I’ve always covered my arms (even living in Arizona for the past 20 years!). But a couple years ago my hubs and I were shopping in H&M and I saw this pretty maxi dress with spaghetti straps and I wanted it so bad but I was afraid to show my arms. And hubs said “why do you care what anyone in this entire world thinks about your arms other than me & you? And you already know you and every part of your body are the most beautiful thing to me!” And I realized he was right! And not only did I take that dress home and wear it the next day, I posted a pic to my Instagram and I got so many likes I started wearing sleeveless clothes all the time. And it’s so much nicer in this 110 degree heat! I actually had the nerve to ask him why he didn’t say anything years ago! I could have been wearing this style all along!! 😂😂

This is great! My arms were one of my problem spots. . . still are, but they fly high now. Actually, it was all of me. My mom had this thing where she preached to me that I was fat, ugly and good for nothing ever since I can remember. Horror stories abound, BUT. . . I'm sorry I listened to her. I was 40 before I could look in a mirror in a ladies bathroom because I was told I had no rights putting on lipstick with all the "regular" women. My mom passed when I was 61. Now 70, this was the first year I wore shorts and sleeveless tops. I sweltered in long shirts and long jeans all my life no matter the temps. What changed? Nobody in my ear telling me I was horrible. That and using Mel Robbins' book "The High 5 Habit." (NOT affiliated in any way) I'm not all the way there yet, but I'm really far along and trying to help others who can't accept themselves as they are. I appreciate you Nita!

Sis, I am that girl who would never buy a short sleeve outfit for the past 10 years. But since I have been following you all summer, I took a chance and went out and bought sleeveless shirts and dresses this summer and I loved it! So I say thank you for all you do for us all!

I never had a issue with confidence until middle school. It was the first time that I became aware that I was on the chunky side. It was a real struggle for me until I got to high school. That's when I became aware that my body was changing & I needed to embrace it. Yes, it took a long time to accept, but when I tell you that I'm thick fine and okay with that. I love being a plus size woman. I love my curves! Yes, my brother gets on my nerve playing with my arm fat but it is what it is lol. I do work out from time to time but I'm not consistent. I don't like my tummy, but shapewear is my best friend. Loving the skin that you are in is so important. Everyone has that one outfit that when they put it on can't nobody tell them nothing. From time to time when I'm feeling down I will put that on & give myself a boost just to remind myself that I'm THAT girl lol. It's the little things that have the biggest impact.

Great tips I was 277lbs had lap band surgery in 2010.lost 100lbs and I had the gastric sleeve in 2013 and that helped maintain my hundred pound weight loss. I say this because now I have saggy bat arms that I was insecure about it,but now I wear my sleeveless shirts and embrace what I have. I gained 40lbs back on but will be working on this soon.

Just like you said, nobody is watching you to the point of ‘oh my God Becky, look at her arms”! It’s taken me a long time to accept my arms but this yr I finally wore them out around my friends and it felt good. I felt ‘normal’. If you don’t make a big deal out of it, they won’t either. Try it by yourself when you run errands or while dating yourself, you’ll be glad you did.

Hey Nita! Love your channel and this series, such great tips. I have struggled all my life with my confidence and my arms were one of the things that bothered me the most. My mom would always say be grateful your have arms because some people don’t. Ooowwweeee that would burn my soul 😂 But it took me to get into my forties to appreciate what she was telling me. I had to learn to be grateful for how GOD made me and that REALLY changed my life. Understanding the love he has for me helped me to see myself and the big arms differently. Still on my confidence journey, but so glad I have your channel for great style advice. Thank you again for being an inspiration. ❤️

I wear shorts above the knee my legs are all squishy, I will rock a sleeveless dress my arms are huge still always have been. You only have 1 life live it to the Fullest. I Love clothing and do not let anything stop me from wearing Beautiful cloths put it on if it is flattering wear it don't let it wear you. Sexy is a state of mind.

Thanks for the boost of confidence. I wore a sleeveless dress last year for the first time EVER! I didn’t try this year; however, it’s not over yet. This series is helping me realize that I deserve to wear off the shoulder tops and sweaters. I don’t have an issue with my arms…it’s the bra marks for me. Yup, we gotta mentally reframe. I think, when it comes to looking at ourselves in the mirror our eyes automatically go to the things we are least confident about in our appearance. But I dunno about you, but when I look at others I tend to see their best features first. We need to start giving ourselves the same favour

This is so true. I live in the city and tend to dress quite conservatively (including covering my upper arms) but when I head home for summer holidays where it's super hot and humid (like moving thru treacle and breathing a sauna) I just think: screw it, people will have to live with my arms, it's too hot!

I'm still working on my insecurities. The thing about the off the shoulder tops is it may help to hide the arms a little but if you have broad shoulders it tends to make you look broader like a line backer. I have broad shoulders more so than big arms and hopefully one day I can embrace them and wear sleeveless tops confidently.
@susie9893
2 ай бұрын
I'm the same but I so much prefer my shoulders to my upper arms. Also halter tops can go a long way to minimising your shoulder width and cos they draw the eye in they also detract from your arms. I'm a big fan of the halter (when it's too hot to wear sleeves)

Confidence is definitely not caring about what other people think. For those ladies who don’t like showing their arms I would be to wear a watch and some bracelets that helps take away some of the attention from your arms as well.

I LOVE this part of the series but I just can't at the moment. My body is disportionate to the rest of my body. I am a size M/L top but my arms will fit comfortably in a size 2XL top. I typically stick to 3/4 sleeves for the summer months. I want a brachioplasty but don't have the coins.

Great video. I was this person,but the older you get you no longer care what other people think. I didn't want to show my arms or bring attention to my thighs. I would rarely wear sleeveless tops or pants. It was freeing and opened up more clothing options when I was able to accept my body.
