I think most amateurs watching your videos and wanting to put what you have in action are, like me, trying to just recap their kids sports teams in an interesting way. These breakdowns of actual events are better than hype videos for us I think. Love all your content, but this breakdown and the one from last year help me the most. Thanks!

what you suggest for sports videography? FE 70-200mm F4 G OSS II or FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II ? money doesnt matter, only which is the best?
@petersarellas

If money doesn’t matter then it’s essentially a matter of what you value between smaller size and macro capabilities or f2.8 aperture

Just came across this video- insane work dude, huge props to you. Quick question, in the video you mentioned having 6 people shooting different stuff, but i wonder how will you go about if you are just shooting on your own. I am asking this because I plan to shoot at my high school and not a lot, it none at all, shoot sports videos, so its hard to get the footages.
@petersarellas
4 ай бұрын
The main differences shooting on your own are that you can’t camp out for specific shots and instead have to shoot wide and cover lots of game action, and that you have to do a lot of running to make sure you’re getting lots of angles and enough coverage of both teams. It isn’t impossible to put something like this together alone, but doing it with at least one other person would go a long way if possible

Hey Peter , recently contacted you about what picture profile you used with the a7iii 70-200 f4 & you left me on open & didn’t respond wondering if u can make a video with settings to help young videographers like me self who don’t understand it , tried to google videos nothing about the a7iii & what to use nor explaining it .

Hi there, sorry I wasn’t able to get to your message. My message requests on Instagram are quite crowded and it can be difficult to get to things there. The comments section of a relevant video is a much better place to get a hold of me. With regards fkn your question, I used HLG3 when I had my A7iii and found it to work great. I should have an old video on the channel going over my A7iii settings if you go a few years back that can help you as well.

Hey, I was wondering if I could send you some clips for color correction on premiere pro. I seem to have trouble with the luts that you use and I'm pretty sure that it's because I suck at shooting LOG footage. Please lmk if you can do this, I would really appreciate it. Maybe you make a tutorial for shooting LOG? If you already have one please send it over. Thanks!
@petersarellas
8 ай бұрын
I don’t have a tutorial for shooting in log but in general for slog3 you’re supposed to expose 1.67 stops over. If you’re not overexposing slog3 you’ll likely have issues with grain and generally won’t be able to colour your footage to the look you want

@@petersarellas whenever I shoot at night, I use the fx3 and shoot at the second base iso of 12800 with an aperture of 5-6.3 and shutter around 250-320 (60fps), however my footage is still too dark. In your professional opinion, what should I lower or raise to increase exposure. My aperture is at the lowest it can go but I can change shutter speed or iso.

Great video man! I just subscribed hoping to learn more about transitioning to Adobe Premier Pro. I recently began editing on Capcut and realized how much I love sports video editing, so I'm thinking of transitioning to Adobe Premier Pro and After Effects. Do you have any advice? Also, do you know if the sports industries typically use these Adobe softwares? I'm a freshman in college and want to know what I have to master to have the most success professionally.

Through working in sports full time for about 4 years now and 3 or so years of school and freelance work prior, everyone I have encountered has worked in Adobe softwares. They obviously aren’t the only option, and I’d encourage you to watch my video on the best video editing softwares if you want to learn more, though Adobe’s products are widely used and will be a good tool for you professionally as things currently stand today.

What happed to working in DaVinci resolve?
@petersarellas
8 ай бұрын
I still do most of everything in premiere pro, I’ll just colour in resolve from time to time. I’ve found that my most common workflow when I’m in a situation like this where all clips are shot with the same settings and want to colour in Resolve has been to colour one clip, export that colour grade as a LUT, and then apply it in Premiere and make any tiny adjustments in there

It’s quite astounding how you never refer to these athletes by names? You always say “those guys” or “the player” it’s like you have no kind of connection to the sport you cover, even tho you cover an entire season. Kind of strange.

Most of the viewers of the videos on this channel are not from Canada and I don’t expect them to know players from a domestic Canadian sports league so I keep things fairly generic
