Mine has just amazed me, it's in a sunny corner, but the humidity this winter was so low in my house that I had sinus issues, this plant took it like a champ and didn't drop a leaf! I planted some Monstera Adonsonii to eventually scramble up and through. I'm gonna notch him later this Spring and make him more pleasing to the eye. :)

I'm starting to do bonsais now, so the branching tips are very important to me. Thank you for sharing. We are moving into winter now, so I can't do any pruning now. I can't wait for spring to start cutting again.

Nice. I do the pinching method. When I see a new bud I pinch and twist it off. At that spot it branches.

First of all, my fiddle leaf fig tree is named Frankie! Secondly, Frankie is easily 7 feet tall already (single branch) and she's running out of space to grow up without hitting the ceiling. How far down can I cut her to grow the branches? She's grown from a baby in about 2 years time to this tall, she's pretty happy with her environment. Two-year long relationship so I'm pretty freaked about trimming her down which is why I haven't yet. :P Thanks for the advice.

Plant Doctor! So glad I found your videos! I just watched your very informative video on branching the fiddle leaf fig. I have a 6-ft tall, single-stalk dieffenbachia plant. Let's call him Charlie. The planter sits on a small pedestal and the top leaves are now touching the ceiling causing the plant to start to lean. I don't want to put the planter on the floor because I want the kitty to stay out of it (a planter is not a litter box after all). Will the pruning technique you used on the fiddle leaf work on my dieffenbachia? I should mention it's in a planter with a couple of other small plants (spider plant plus 2-3 others I don't know the names of). They have been living together in this 16" pot for the past 5 years. Only Charlie seems to be thriving in this arrangement, growing taller by the month, soon to capsize or burst through the roof. The other plants are merely surviving. Hope you see my comment/question and can offer me some advice. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and your charming personality with the world! :)

Love your vids. I live in New Zealand. I am a outdoor plant lover. I have some native pohutukawa trees in my back yard (New Zealand's "Christmas tree"). I pruned the thick branches a few months ago. But nothing is growing back. How can I encourage new growth of green shoots from the pruned branches and now bare and denuded trunk. I want it to grow back bushy as it gives privacy from neighbors.

Hey Hilton I recently subscribed to you KZitem page after coming across it a few weeks ago. Very informative. However as another sucriber commented I would like for you to actually take us through the process. I have a very large fiddle leaf, not as enormous as yours that I've had for 5 years. I nearly killed it my first few months but was shown to bring it back and it is thriving. Every fiddle I've seen leaves grow facing up. Mine grows down is that normal? The leaves are huge and strong but since she's such a diva I feel like she's mad at me and waiting for me to say something wrong or look at her wrong and suddenly starts dropping leaves. I mean I'm kind of walking in egg shells. Does the drooping leaves mean anything?

Hello I was hoping maybe you could give me some advice, I did a clipping from the top of my tree about a week and a half ago I have put it in water to try to propagate and it is in a window that receives bright indirect light for a large portion of the morning and then after that just receives natural light. Two leave started to get brown so I removed them and the branch is getting really wilted flimsy. Do you have any suggestions so I don’t lose this propagation and have made my tree look ugly lol

@Frunze42

In the wild trees have more space under ground to grow their roots, which hold them in place. They also get the proper light and nutrition outside. In a pot that is not possible and lack of llight can lead to a tall, lanky tree requiring support.
