Here are some general troubleshooting steps in case you have any issues: 1. Did you watch the entire video, and follow the directions exactly? 2. Is the USB drive formatted with FAT32 rather than NTFS or exFAT? 3. Do you have file extensions enabled in Windows Explorer? 4. Did you download the latest BIOS file for your motherboard? 5. Did you rename the BIOS file as gigabyte.bin? 6. Is the BIOS file in the root of the USB drive? 7. Is the USB drive in the correct port (the one labeled BIOS)? 8. Are both power supply cables plugged into the motherboard? 9. Did you plug in the USB drive before you turned the power supply on? 10. Are you using a USB 2.0 flash drive instead of a USB 3.0 flash drive (USB 2.0 seems to work better)? 11. Did the BIOS flash LED on the motherboard flash for 5-6 minutes, and then stop flashing? This blog post has more details, including FAQs: Flashing Your BIOS with No CPU Installed (bit.ly/3kfHjWe) This blog post talks about USB 2.0 drives and how to identify them. Thanks for this Glenn! This is almost a bit much to ask, but would any issues arise from me flashing my Gigabyte B550M Pro Aurorus with the CPU installed? My dumbass didn't realize that the BIOS was outdated until i ran into issues with USB devices, or more recently, my PC turning itself off. Windows 10 runs fine for the most part, in spite of my BIOS not supporting my 5600G. Would that mean that the BIOS can be flashed with the CPU installed? Or would you recommend taking it out to do so? Thanks.
@GlennBerrySQL
2 жыл бұрын
If your system will POST, you don't need to use this technique to flash the BIOS. You can use the easier Q-Flash (no Plus) feature to flash the BIOS from within the BIOS setup program. The motherboard manual explains how to do it. To answer your original question, you can use Q-Flash Plus with the CPU installed. The system needs to be plugged in, with the power supply switch on, but you don't want to turn it on with the case power switch. After that, just follow the directions in the video.

Glenn....I must commend you on this YT Tutorial!! It was excellent! I just received this mobo yesterday and I'm trying to take in as much 'how to' as I can before I swap out components from my 2011 Gigabyte build. I'm hoping to just R & R the mobo, cpu, and ram and have it boot right into my existing W10Pro OS (on SATA SSD). I must have watched 4 or 5 YT videos on this very topic before I came across yours. One was personally recommended by GB!!! While the others were informative, it was the clear cut instructions from you that actually corrected previous blunders on my part. Yours was like holding my hand while looking over my shoulder. Extremely helpful! I had downloaded the wrong BIOS from GB. Then I couldn't format my thumb drive to FAT32....cuz it was a 64GB-er and only exFAT formatable. Add to that, I was renaming the wrong file...... Anyway, without this tutorial I suspect it would have minimally not posted or worse yet. All the best and thanks a bunch for putting this together.

Mr. Berry, I'm not sure this is permissible....I'm not a big YT user. But I've got a question that I can't get answered in several attempts elsewhere, even at Gigabyte. In my previous 2011 build, I'm tying to swap from a GB mobo (GA-890FXA) to this new X570 Aorus Elite mobo. The CPU and RAM are being upgraded too. I'd like to get all my ducks in a row to minimize downtime and hopefully have a successful boot into the W10Pro OS residing on an existing SATA SSD. Eventually, I'll move the OS over to a new M.2 SSD. My question is do I need to remove the existing GB software and any related mobo utility apps (e.g., CoreTemp)? Or will the '890FXA GB software be removed when I load the new GB X570 Aorus software? Sorry to trouble you with this mundane matter, but I'd like to touch base with someone who has experience with what I'll be doing shortly. Thanks

@@johnbeardmore8190 Your old SATA SSD with Windows 10 will work fine in your new system, as long as you have network/internet connectivity. Windows 10 will pull down any drivers that it needs. It won't remove anything. You might have to download the NIC driver on another system, put it on a thumb drive and install it on your new system. You would also want to get the vendor-specific drivers for your motherboard, like I talk about here. glennsqlperformance.com/2022/02/05/finding-the-latest-pc-drivers-in-2022/ If it were me, I would just install a fresh copy of Windows 10 or Windows 11 on your new M.2 SSD rather than trying to use your old SATA SSD.

Hey Mr Berry, I need some help. I have the latest bios on a USB device. Fat32 and renamed to gigabyte.bin. it is the gigabyte aurous extreme wifi with a 5800x AMD processor. I will admit that I jumped the gun and turned on the power from the case(habit) and then saw the flash button led light up, I tapped it an it started to do a steady blinking for about a minute and then it stopped. Waited a minute longer and the ln pulled the plug. Rebooted still nothing on the screen. So I go back and rewatch the video and realized my good on starting it with the power button. So I tried again with trying to start it with the q flash button but nothing happens. So any suggestions as to what to try next?
@GlennBerrySQL

Well, the nice thing about this technique is that you can do it multiple times, so it is often possible to recover from a failed BIOS flash attempt. Are you 100% sure you downloaded the correct BIOS for your motherboard (and not some other model)? Is the renamed BIOS file in the root of your USB drive and is the USB drive in the correct USB port?

I have tried all of that. Downloaded the right file, renamed it. Using a 16GB USB formatted the right way. The board is connected to power supply, and the 8pin as well. When I turn on the power switch on power supply, the board lights up at bottom for a quick 1sec, then when I press the flashback button, the USB lights up, but the flashback LED doesn’t. Then the USB stops lighting up, and it will only light up again if I press the Flashback button.
