Here are some general troubleshooting steps in case you have any issues: 1. Did you watch the entire video, and follow the directions exactly? 2. Is the USB drive formatted with FAT32 rather than NTFS or exFAT? 3. Do you have file extensions enabled in Windows Explorer? 4. Did you download the latest BIOS file for your motherboard? 5. Did you rename the BIOS file as gigabyte.bin? 6. Is the BIOS file in the root of the USB drive? 7. Is the USB drive in the correct port (the one labeled BIOS)? 8. Are both power supply cables plugged into the motherboard? 9. Did you plug in the USB drive before you turned the power supply on? 10. Are you using a USB 2.0 flash drive instead of a USB 3.0 flash drive (USB 2.0 seems to work better)? 11. Did the BIOS flash LED on the motherboard flash for 5-6 minutes, and then stop flashing? This blog post has more details, including FAQs: Flashing Your BIOS with No CPU Installed (bit.ly/3kfHjWe) This blog post talks about USB 2.0 drives and how to identify them. I just want to say "Thanks" for writing the most properly structured instructions for qflash/z690 that i have found. i don't know why some YT channels do not know how to explain important aspects of this like "PC can be fully assembled for this" or "rename the file first" or "while PC is turned off and flashdrive is in BIOS slot, press the qflash button and not the power button ". I"ve created the flashdrive and am prepped for the update...... i'll be back afterwards to update you on how everything went..

So are you saying you can’t do this without hitting the button on the motherboard? My computer is already built. I have to take to apart just to flash it?
@GlennBerrySQL
2 жыл бұрын
Well two things. First, if your computer is already built (and it will POST), then you don't have to use this method. You can just do a regular BIOS flash from the BIOS (using regular Q-Flash, not Q-Flash Plus). Second, if you do need to use this method, you should be able to get to that Q-Flash Plus button after you take the side panel off of your case.

Great video, Glenn! I saw this AFTER I figured out how to do the Q-Flash sequence on that motherboard. Flashing the BIOS worked fine for me. My question: the BIOS Version F20 includes the following message in the description on the download screen: "Please make sure is updated to v19.5 or above before installing 13th Gen Processors. Windows crashes with 13th Gen Processors when Intel VMD (RAID) has been configured on 12th Gen without v19.5 updated." I clicked the link (on my old PC) to download the "Intel VMD driver" and found it is an .exe file. So, how do I run this program before I install Windows? (I will be using a 13th gen i5-13600K processor). This is a NEW computer I'm building, so I don't have a 12th gen processor to use to execute the .exe file. I posted this question on the Gigabyte tech support page, but I still have not received an answer.

A big mighty mighty THANK YOU, sir!!! And greetings from Germany! You saved me, because I built a new PC with an AORUS Z690 Ultra mainboard and it didn't boot at all. First I saw a 'C1' prompt on the two digit display on the board, looked it up and most notes on that said, something's wrong with the DRAM. Then I also saw the 4 checking LEDs on the board for CPU, DRAM etc, and DRAM was lit red. Sooooooooo I had to hinder myself crapping my pants at first, because the new system was quite pricy and I was pretty generous on the DRAM amount... didn't want to have dead DRAM modules. But then I thought about it and came to the conclusion it might possible the DRAM modules I chose (Corsair DDR5 5200 16GB, 4 modules) are not supported by the board out of box. So I got sweaty and started to franticly search for manuals how to update the BIOS without having any screen output (the PC didn't post). Your video was the third try and you were absolutely the first person who properly explained the proper way to do this. Now I'm installing Windows 11 right now (yeah, I know, many people don't like it, but I think it's not windows Vista, soooo :D). Again, thank you soooo much, sir! I really appreciate that you uploaded this video! You are a very nice human being =)

Was trying to update my Z690 Aero G DDR4 from BIOS F2 version to BIOS F22 version, thru Q-Flash and always gets the BIOS ID check error. Already did different methods/troubleshooting: using BIOS’ older versions for this MOBO, putting only one single file in the flash drive, trying different flash drives for Q Flash and such. Then came up with this solution and thought it’s risky as I always get the BIOS ID check error and thought I’m using the wrong update file and the MoBo might not boot, but I just went with it. And it’s the only one that EVER worked for me and did it with a fully built system unit (CPU, GPU, RAMS, Drives, plugged in peripherals). Really grateful for this video, followed every steps and carefully read the FAQs that I might ask as well. Cheers and more power!

This method lets you revert back to an older BIOS version and also recover from a failed flash attempt. If you never update your BIOS, you are missing out on performance improvements, bug fixes and security updates. Many people never update their BIOS because they don't know it needs to be done, don't know how to do it, are too lazy to do it, or they just don't care.

Because you probably skipped a step or made some small mistake. For this procedure, you have to do every little step correctly, or else it will fail. Downloading the correct BIOS for your motherboard, unzipping it, renaming it, putting it in the root of the USB drive, etc.

Is this a fully assembled system? If so, I hope you are not turning on the system with the case power button. It can't be "running" when you try this. Otherwise, if the BIOS flash LED just blinks for a second or two and then stops, that means that the system can't find or read the BIOS update file from the USB drive. There are a number of things that might be wrong to cause that. Maybe you downloaded a BIOS for a different model motherboard, maybe it was not renamed properly, etc.
@CassieHenry
Жыл бұрын
@@GlennBerrySQL It is partially assembled except for no cpu fan or AIO yet. I am following the given instructions, not pressing the case power on, and followed the USB steps. I dont think its the USB because of the instructions being to clear, but something to do with the mother board or setup.

@@stephenmetz2044 The Ryzen 5 5600X doesn't have integrated graphics, so connecting the monitor to the motherboard video ports will never work. You have to use the discrete GPU and connect to it. If possible, I would try a different video card and/or test the video card you have in a different system. I would also try removing and reseating the video card. If your video card requires supplemental PCIe power, I would make sure the PCie power cable is connected and fully seated.

make sure you are using the correct port as only one usb port will be for qflash bios updating. it does not matter if cpu, memory or anything else is or it not installed. Do make sure the usb stick is using FAT32 and that the file name for the bios is GIGABYTE.bin and not gigabyte.bin like in this video. then simply put the usb stick in the bios usb port, power on the psu and hit that qflash button if the motherboard has one and wait a few minutes.
