Spencer, thank you for the video! And can you tell me how to select the address of another country in the personal address field (I am not a US resident). Because there I see only the state choice, but not the country. I'm going to apply for the Chase Business Cash credit card as a non-resident using the EIN of my LLC.

Cool helpful video Spencer!! I am 48 and ruined my credit 23 years ago. I've had no credit cards since and I decided to try and build up my credit again. I have 4 cards that I am using to do this. A Discover Secured Card with $500, A Capital One Platinum Mastercard Unsecured with a $300 CL. An Amazon Secured Card for $200 and surprisingly I got approved for a Chase Freedom Rise with a $500 CL. I'll take it since my my credit score is unscoreable since I have no credit history. I'm glad I got in the door with Chase.

I know it's only for the first year, but with the 5% on groceries, it really kind makes this card OP as your only card if the majority of your spend is on food. 5% groceries, 3% dining, and 1.5% on all your other purchases is soo nice.

I 100% agree. You can't get better first year value from a card with no annual fee. With a base 40-80% ROS without taking into account the 5% on groceries, that's insane on its own.

@SpencerJohnsonOfficial
Жыл бұрын
Okay good to know. So unfortunately it looks like you’ve misunderstood the 5/24 rule. What that rule states is that if you’ve been approved for 5 or more personal cards in the last 24 months, Chase will deny you for your next card application with them. It has nothing to do with your credit score. They want your score to be in the 700-800s though to approve you. They usually don’t approve anyone under that. I would never recommend missing payments for any reason, especially to lower your credit score on purpose. The higher the number the better! I’d get that back up as soon as you can by making all of your payments on time, settling any debt you’ve accumulated (hopefully none) and making sure you don’t have any negative remarks on your credit report. Then make sure you’re carrying a low utilization when the statement close date hits and pay off your cards on time and in full from there. Once you’re back to a good to excellent credit score, you should have no issues getting Chase cards as long as you have no negative remarks on your report. I’m sorry that someone didn’t explain the 5/24 rule right or you misunderstood them when you first heard about it… I hope you can recover quickly though!

I completely understand where you're coming from and I imagine it's a lot to take in starting from scratch. I hope my videos can at least help you get started in the right direction! I've made a good amount of videos about how to maintain a good credit score and what cards you should get started with if you've never had one before (my video from last week is a good place to start) but I imagine it will be difficult to get approved for higher tier cards if you aren't claiming that you have any income. I'm pretty sure every credit card application requires you to list an income on it, however, they ask for gross annual income which is pretax money, so you could report what you make now and should be okay to get started, at least with a secured card if none other. I'd look at the Discover it cash back card if you have no previous credit history, and if you can't get approved for that, I would try to get the Discover it secured as I talked more about in last weeks video. Let me know if you have any questions as you get started though!! I'm always happy to help.

Chase is definitely on the stricter side of lenders. I’d recommend you really focus on making on time payments and keeping your credit utilization low. I recommend keeping your credit utilization at about 1-2% and you can do that by making early payments to your credit cards (every week or two if that helps you). If you do both of those things you’ll be well on your way to getting their cards for sure!

Great question! I can't tell you for sure if you'll be approved or not, but maybe this will help... when I got approved for my CSP I was still in college and my income was probably at about $50k. I had two credit cards opened at that time, and I was instantly approved for the CSP with just about the same credit score as you if I remember correctly. Chase will take into account a lot of different factors which is why I can't guarantee you'll be approved, but hopefully that helps a bit. Either one of those cards is solid, and hopefully you'll be able to get approved for both at some point!

You could go with a 2% cash back card if you wanted! The CFU is just much more than that and can be used in combination with higher tier Chase cards to give the points you earn much more value. Then it becomes more like a 3% card (or more) if you use the points correctly. You have to want to travel to make that work though.

That’s so odd. I wonder why that is. That’s what I get for trying to use my referral instead of their preapproval link I guess 🤣 I’ll take those free points though! 🤷🏼♂️

I believe so! She’s on vacation right now so I can’t ask her right now, but I believe it was a few thousand… 3-4K maybe?

@@SpencerJohnsonOfficial right on man. When I got my first chase card I had just over a year of credit history. It’s been at the same $500 limit since 5/2021 😂

Haha mine was not quite as high as hers either but I feel for you! You know you can get a credit limit increase on that with just a soft pull now right? And if you need to product change it to a better card first, I’d do that too.
