Dear Ken, there is a great book ' The Brain That Changes Itself '. You can find the book in internet. If you might not move your limbs , you can surely control your breathing. I've been saying this for a long time. I'm 46 and have been lean/strong my whole life. I'm not a gym rat, not that I mind the gym. But I fast regularly and most days I'm snowboarding, bouldering, rock climbing, hiking, paddleboarding, mountain biking. Yeah, I do take care not to eat too much junk but for the most part staying lean is on autopilot just because of my lifestyle. Keep up the good work geting this message out there!

LOVE intermittent fasting. I would like to add that for a woman it is definitely a different experience. Not to be done everyday, always. Instead maybe 1-2 weeks a month for when the menstrual cycle rolls around, time to nourish. When I forget this and intermittent fast a week outside of my cycle, I definitely notice a massive difference in my emotional stability. Something to ponder.

Walking is massively important. Especially if it's the first thing you do when you wake up, with a glass of water. 👍 Staying supple is also very important. Thank you for the information and the reminder! I always forget about certain times in my life, until I'm watching a video that reminds me of them. I had a period of time where I never ate after 2 pm and usually waited 1-3 hours after waking up to have anything. Not planned, just the way things went. Up super early (3:30 am - 4:30 am) didn't eat until around 6 or 6:30 am, if then. Every meal was served on a saucer, not a lunch plate, or in a cup, not a bowl. Always had at least a good nod to fresh and healthy fruit or veg. And, we'd eat the meals while doing the sitting sort of things, like watching a little Netflix. But when we were done eating, we got back up, cleaned the dishes and went to go do yard work, dance, ride an exercise bike, walk down to the pool and go swimming for a while, etc. No plan, just the way life worked out and it was great! Lost so much weight, with no dieting and not even thinking about losing weight. Just enjoying life. It's been very hard to get into a routine, for more than a day or two at a time, most of the time since then. Had to move, different circumstances ...But, I did get to spend a couple of weeks mostly by myself in 2020 wherein I had pretty much only things like beans, rice, spices, fruts, a few fresh veggies and some Dave's killer raisin bread. That was quite the treat. Oh, and ginger. Lots of ginger tea. And, that was another time of exercise just being part of the life, because, the place I was at had a lot of stairs and a dog to walk. I shall quit rambling now. I just wanted to contrast and compare truths from my life with what you are saying. And, try to drum it back into my own head.

I used to backpack a lot. If there was open water I always began my day rinsing off, even if there was ice. One time I jumped into what looked like icy shallow water. It was over my head. My first thought was, "I could die and no one would know where to find me!" It amazed me how warm I was when I got out. Fortunately, the current wasn't fast and I didn't end up under the ice. One's body is pumping to save your life. I loved beginning the day that way!

Yeah, out in the wild one can see whether one is really fit or just work-out fit. The wilderness has different challenges, usually every day the whole day, than civilization. I realized it for the first time when I was doing a wild camping, treeclimbing and canoeing trip in the Río Napo region of Ecuador back in 2017. Energy gets depleted quite fast under wilderness conditions. Plans sound nice in the warm apartment, but then you are out there and stuff begins to feel quite different. Cheers.

Amazing. And loved the backpacking video! Just moved to CO and that looks amazing, so maybe that’s a goal now 😁
