As I’m trying to give up most beverages accept lemon water…I appreciate this vid. Gotta get this squeezer. TIP: lemons can be expensive so when I see them on sale I buy a lot. To keep them a long time store them in a lg jar filled with water and put in frig. Works so great!!

i toss the lemon multiple times on the ground and pretend it increases juice yield (but actually its for the comedic/surprise effect) its a true ice breaker

You don’t need any of these tricks or gadgets!! Just cut it off center all the way around. We use citrus in Thailand for everything and trust me this is the best way.

Depends on the condition of the citrus peel. Meyer lemons have thin skin and are easily squeezed or pressed in a citrus squeezer. Some limes, particularly the small ones, are on the dry side so 10 seconds in a microwave helps those give up more juice when pressed. Older lemons tend to have tougher skin so cutting off the ends and rolling them first yields more juice in a citrus press. BTW, never discard your peels. They can be candied or added to bone broth stock. Meyer lemons are my hands down favorite, quartered and sprinkled with salt. I grew up surrounded by citrus groves in the San Joaquin Valley. 🍊🍋

my question is....why oh why does everyone put the citrus in the wrong way in these half-dome squeezers? I know it seems intuitive to put curved skin side in the bowl so it nests in it the same way. This is backwards! You drop the citrus half in so the dome of the citrus faces up! This way when you squeeze it turns the dome of the citrus half inside out and presses the pulp against the other half dome of the squeezer making the most juice! It looks as even the host of this video gets it wrong

Once almost came to fisticuffs over which way the lemon 1/2 goes in the juicer. Here's why people put the lemon skin side down in the juicer bowl: The pointed (convex) side is ribbed, which tears & pulps the lemon as it's pressed. I agree table top juicers are used pulp side down over the ribbed cone & skin against your palm. Maybe it's a situation like TP flap on top or bottom?

I like to roll lemons and limes on the table with slight pressure then microwave for 30 seconds. Then roll once again on the table. To juice, I use a hand citrus reamer. I'm able to obtain every last drop of juice, no problem. 😉

Ok. So what actually is the correct way to place the lemon half?? Round side up? Or round side into the cave of the juicer??
@jda9193
2 жыл бұрын
Round side (after you cut the ends off like in the video) into the cave of the squeezer. So the largest surface area of the lemon is facing UP. This technique was a game changer for me. HTH.

Try freezing and thawing. Doing so damages the cells in the pulp and you get quite a lot of juice easily.
