LEOs that get to have this type of training with a skilled instructor are very fortunate. Thank you for putting this out.

You probably know that most agencies will not have this type of training. It is up to the individual officer to seek training. Now days, there are many BJJ, wrestling, MMA schools to train at. Not many of them will have a law enforcement focus but its still good to train and then learn to adapt for your specific needs.

I'm sure you know this and just forgot to say it. but your VERY FIRST PRIORITY BEFORE ANYTHING! !!!! is that your gun is secure and the attacker cannot get to it before you start your way back to your feet! your gun should always be your main priority whether you're a policeman and it's on a belt or a civilian with concealed carry . and that goes double if your attacker is taking you to the ground , If someone knows you have a gun or sees that you have a gun the first thing someone's going to try for when you hit the ground is your gun . so make sure he doesn't have a easy line to it then start working on your way up, I realize in some situations this may be impossible but it still should be your priority

That was my first thought. He's in a great position for a groin shot. Practically asking for it.

Im no martial arts expert but I figure if I got hit in the groin my first reaction is to tense up, which if im grappling you doesnt exactly make it harder for me.

Real life situations are always unpredictable and you never know what skill level your opponent has. As you displayed in your video, your opponent can pull your legs out from under you and keep you from getting to your feet. If technique is key, I would rather take my chances fighting using technique rather than pinning myself and have no room to move.

Wedging myself makes it very hard to pull me down...attempting to get up minus wedging makes it very easy to pull me down...been fighting my way to my feet for 17 years...under aggressive opponents who are trying to punch me and take me down...also trained these spots extensively with weapons...The wedge hurts his ability to move me...then I work my way to my feet

@Funker Tactical - Fight Training Videos I would only say this, as I've never been put into a position where this technique would be necessary (having never been taken down near an object I could brace on); even with that isometric pressure you're applying to this wall or fridge or whatever else, if your opponent (Mike) stands up and he's got ahold of that wedged leg, that leg should be going with him, which would lay you flat on your back, defeating the entire purpose. Genuine question: am I missing a piece here that would make this observation untrue, or are you simply relying that "Mike" is gonna hold on to the framed leg. Almost every fight I've been in, my opponent has reached for anything that was stabilizing me. so if I've got a leg wedged, he's going to go after that supporting leg. Can you clarify that for me?

pushing into the wall...hence "wedged"...makes it very difficult to pull me away from it...also I am pulling up on Mike, framing him away, and pushing his head down at certain times...If Mike commits to pulling with both hands, I commit to hammer strikes and downward elbows...pulling me off the wall is much harder than you may think

Thanks for showing us the technique but I believe it is definitely not something easy to pull off (if not very difficult). If we look at those pro MMA fights and when a fighter is getting takedown and pinned against the cage it takes helluva efforts to get back up on his feet again, while some could only hang in there until the round is over (and losing the round, of course). Even pro fighters can hardly do it.

Good point brother...but many guys do this very successfully on a regular basis...also, if you stop me from doing it it takes some knowledge on your end...don't assume because a guy is a "pro that he trains the wedge position, or is good at defending takedowns, or is good at getting up...guys who train this "get it"...guys who don't, don't...there is no guarantee anything would work in a fight...you are under someone in a fight...how would you get up?

Is this with rules or "survival" ? So many spaces for groin hits, same for defender - can attack ears, eyes, why dont use it for advantage while on the ground

damn. i feel terrible about that. i could have done better with researching the story rather than just relying on results from google search. i will be changing it immediately. -GN
