I've been growing cannabis for 43 years, first auto was about 20 years ago and they kind of sucked. I kept growing them and found if you plant them in 10 gallon pots and do lst and leaf tucking they get massive. I grow them in coco coir/perlite 70/30 and use fox farms grow big in veg and the tiger bloom in flower, no boosters. The largest yield from 1 auto was 13oz dried and cured, I average 7oz per autoflower plant. The reason I like using coco coir for autos is the short veg cycle, the fox farm soils suck for autos, they stay too hot for too long and I got deficiencies in late flower every time. Fabric pots are awesome if you use the plant elevators.

Plants had way better cannabinoid diversity while today we aim at having the highest THC levels and compromise other cannabinoid that also play a role in the high. Yes, thc is psychoactive while the others arent, but some help to relax etc.. I once bought some 30% thc bud and was seriously dissapointed and prefered the 20% bud.. Anyways, its not because all you were able to get your hands on was terribly grown weed that it means nobody was able to grow good weed.. Here’s a auto transplant hack, start them in the small, biodegradable pot. Grow until it gets 8 leaves, drill a bunch of holes in bottom, then plant into your 3-5 pot. Works like a charm everytime, plant doesn’t realized it’s been transplanted…never gets shock. As it grows the roots shoot out the holes you made into the new growing medium. And the cardboard disenegrates

I thought the whole thing about starting autos in their final pots has more to do with maximising their veg growth before they flower as afaik once the roots hit the bottom of the pot it starts the flowering process so by starting in bigger pots you effectively can get longer veg times which leads to bigger plants an yields etc.

Fornlessnthan $100 i jave enough fertilizer to go theough atnleadt 6 or 7 runs easily. Advanced nutrients is nothing more than a bunch of chelates added, that's really all there is to the whole "ph perfect" secret. AN is basically beginner level stuff because it's hard to mess up, but you pay the beginners tax with the rather absurd cost of using it. There are far cheaper ways to arrive at the same result, but big Mike has for years counted upon growers to not figure out out themselves. He understands the predilaction of most growers to cling onto that which yielded them a successful grow.

I find topping autos helps with keeping the plant square in the tent, alot less training is needed. I also feel like if you top them earlier, they focus their energy on the roots similar to clones when you cut the leaves, big roots big buds. Have had very similar results without topping but it required more time training. I've had some go very bad after topping but I think they would have gone bad regardless, some just don't throw strong roots.

I've been using Pro mix HP for a couple of years now and love it..so do my plants! My local store just got in their "organic" line and I can't really see a difference..however the plants seem much happier. On my first bag of it so not much experience with it..but impressed so far! ✌️

I have been growing 12 autos in a 5x5 I started them in 1 gallon fabrics, then when they started showing roots through the bottom I sat them inside 3 gallon partially filled fabrics, they are under 24 hours of light small and super thick monsters, I enjoy the direct transplants without disturbing roots

@@nk-dw2hm hi there, it severely depends on how long you decide to veg since they are photoperiod you can veg them into trees before flipping, I’ve moved on too 20 hours light 4 darkness giving them a slight break and being less stressful

I definitely subscribed to his channel as soon as I heard he grows tomatos and peppers... But I wish he was doing hydro. Still can probably learn a lot from him. Seems like a nice and knowledgeable guy. I REALLY WISH there was more content on intermediate/advanced DWC for peppers/tomatos. Maybe I should start a channel.

Would love to have you test my genetics. I've got several gelato and gg4 mixes with Afghan kush and Afghan skunk. Straight purple black buds on some and I've almost been able to isolate a mutation in the gelato variety. Whorly phyllotaxy & polyploid both! Let me know if your interested in trying some out. Let me share some photos with you homie at least.

Ive grown a lot of autos myself What ive learned is that if you put 12/12 hours on a non auto from the day it breaks seed youll still get more, better quality bud then with autos the ruderalis genes used to make them auto, is just not good. you can polish shit until its pure gold, but under that shine, its still shit lol

Curious about mulching... outdoor plants in fabric bags tend to dry out more quickly and are sometimes left unattended for days or weeks for various reasons. Would you mulch, with what, and how much?
@James-gq9be

I've used a grass feed mix, like alfalfa and hay. I cover my 200 gallon pots about 4 inches. As it breaks down it releases nitrogen, absorbs and retains water, shades the top of the container especially early on to keep that top from drying out. Also add alfalfa pellets in the soil mix. Easiest cheapest nitrogen
