As always, amazing guests with an amazing host. If you shop on ebay in Europe, I got my CO2 monitor for less than 10 bucks. I can't speak for the whole of Europe, but in the UK they're a necessity of any rented accommodation, many other building types will need them for Insurance purposes etc, so we have thousands of options for CO2 monitors. Mine has co2, rh, and temp and can be hooked up to my phone.

I listen to people who are trying to grow on the cheap, but they go out and pay $25-$50 per bucket (+6 for the bucket) on organic soil and then not reuse that soil. I grow DWC and I paid about $20 to setup each bucket (with some LECA and rock wool) and another $5 for nutrients per bucket per plant. Only the nutrients aren’t reusable. DWC also results in vastly larger plants.

I got 1.2 pounds off of my first ever grow, I grew 3 gorilla skittzles autos and 1 amnesia haze auto xxl. They loved the nuits I used, and they actually faded about a week early. It was my first grow and they needed more, I got to feed them 2 times before I had to flush. I have about 20 under my belt now. But I gained double the yield in the last two weeks of the life span. I expected about an Oz off each plant, nope!! Lmao, I did low stress training and took the temperature down to 60 in the day and 55 to 51 degrees at night the last 3 weeks. I automatically saw an increase that first week, but like I said the last 2 weeks stacked them hardcore. Happy growing!!! Thanks for the video, really appreciate it. Edit: under an 800 true watt led

What does that have to do with blacking out the room. They make black out curtains, that look nice and match room in color. Most people hang curtains over windows. Really it just comes down to how dedicated one wants to be and how they want to grow. Either way will work and is fine, i was just giving a opinion on how to grow photos, or the light leak issue. Growing autos vs photos you use the same material same amount of energy same cost, time and effort but you grow less weed. Grow 4 plants you lose around 12 ounces auto vs photo. Grow 5 that's a pound lost round about doing the same exact thing. Which probably doesn't matter to you but that's another reason I gave advise on light leaks. I grow autos as well 8 to 12 plants at a time, outdoors tho perpetually, so I'm not trying to knock autos or what you do. Again just thought I could help you grow more, without changing anything but the kind of seed grown.
@archiebf4524

@@Chris-Hill I don't really see what's hard to follow here, unless you have a dedicated grow room it's very hard to keep the dark times dark consistently for 12 hours in flower. I'll also remind you the majority of the world is still in prohibition and if you lived there and didn't have a dedicated grow room you'd likely turn to converting a wardrobe/closet etc. for stealth purposes which are even harder to keep dark consistently for 12 hours straight for 8-12 weeks. Hence autos as the light leaks really don't matter, for the record I do both

Good luck! I think Earthboxes would be perfect for growing autos and they're good for beginners because you water from below and water wicks up into the soil, so it's wetter below and dry on the surface. That eliminates a lot of fungus gnats and other bugs. I live mine but I haven't tried autos in them. Yet. They're great for small to medium size photos too.

If you want to start in a smaller container I recommend using one made out of coco, that way you dont have to take them out of it to transplant, you just put them into the final pot and the roots will reach out through the coco. Also, just wanted to say, you seem like some very kind people :)

This is what I do wit my photo plants.. I start in rapid rooters and then put them into either the coco pots or the cardboard ones and then from there I go up in pots sizes, but I definitely plan on using the same technique for auto's on my next run but I'll probably just put the rapid rooters directly into either 5 or 7 gallon fabric pots

I don't really like autos much! I haven't grown too many, mostly to fit in a spot. I like them better outdoors! As far as style of grow with autos, I LST them, tie them down to the side of a 5 gallon cloth pot. I take them as far as they will go around the pot. If it reaches it's self that is the only time I'll top it, if the colas stretch out enough I LST those too and have even lollypoppped those colas if they stretch too much. Results in a sizable harvest and dense nuggets. Peace!

I get the attraction to autos for the turn around but I love running photos. The quality is so much better and the fact I can have a mom and take cuttings before I flip them is a no brainer, especially if you’ve dropped ridiculous money on seeds and got something really special you want to hold onto. I did my first indoor auto grow just recently. My plants were in 3 gal containers in hp promix ammended with down to earth nutrients. I did not have a ph meter and I was giving the plants tap water. My yield was extremely lack luster despite having beautiful and sticky flowers. I averaged 14g dried and trimmed per plant. I bought a ph meter for this next grow and it turns out my tap water runs at 8.9. I'm planning on using a tiny amount of lemon juice to lower it to 6.0-6.5 range. I'm actually glad that my ph was so off because it explains my small yield.
@Chris-Hill
2 жыл бұрын
if you use quality soil and dry amendments you won't need to ph. I run autos perpetually outdoors 9 to 12 plants at a time. I'll water with the garden house with a boogie blue filter over 9ph. I'll use a blue lab soil pen to check periodically. start in smaller pots that also helps extend food supply. liquid nutrients and dry amendments are used differently. nutrients are absorbed between 6.3-6.7 mostly. liquid nutrients are readily available to plants so they must be ph for uptake. dry amendments don't feed plants they feed microbes in the rhizosphere. those microbes do well at phing their environment. my autos get transplanted at week 3 from pots half the size of solo cups into 5 gallon pots. I'll feed a month after they've been in the 5 gallons then maybe one more time 3 weeks later depending on flower stage. personally I use happy frog and ocean forest

I did a run with the full stack of Advanced nutrients and it was very successful. I did find it to be very pricey and the individual mixing of each bottle was very time consuming. I've switched to a nutrient line called Cronk Nutrients. I got a great deal and the results have been just as good as the Advance Nutrients. On my current auto (Barney’s Runtz) run I just took off the top 2 leafs 3 separate times and it’s turned out great without stressing the plant. Lots of even tops. I saw it on a previous podcast with photoperiods

I lost motivation my last grow a year ago mid veg. Made it to week 3 of flower before drying out. I was impressed how long they survived.

Great Channel, I am starting back after 6 years , switching to auto's Years ago I did the 5 gal, super soil on bottom, 1/2 inch or so perlite / clay pellets in bottom of pot first. Great way to grow. Was thinking about the 3 gal, but will stay with the 5 after this. Thank you two!

Never gained yield on topping autos but you can get more uniform buds from it and I don’t notice a loss 2.5-4 zips out a 3 gals every time

the easiest way to make C02 is to have a pan of water in your tent mix vinegar into the water pan, add some baking soda slowly until it is bubbling, repeat as needed usually lasts a little while to as long as you have a bigger pan and mix properly

It seems very counter productive to use most dry organic amendments in pots, By the time these ingredients are just starting to be broken down and available to the plant you've already harvested and smoked that batch. I think you would be shocked if you knew how long these ingredients actually take to be available. In most horticultural applications these organic amendments are added to the soil in the fall after harvest just so they can be available in the soil the following summer.

I'm about to start my first grow. Could you suggest nutrients that are good for autos?

Sorry I didn't see your reply. I hope your grow is going well. I only have experience with liquid organic nutes which are actually available to the plants. I would run nectar for the gods for my first grow, they produce very high quality easy to use nutes. I would use gia mainia for veg then i would switch to medusas magic, herculean harvest and olympus up for my flowering cycle very simple and you don't have too worry about your water ph because the olympus up will keep your soils ph in check by neutralizing the acidity in your soil. Best of luck to ya. @@Bigbilly-ms9bn

Dont do autos imo they r never better than a 6\10 even average regular photoperiods are way better but thers a good chance that every few seeds youl get a super pheno a true 10\10 too and youl definitely get multiple others that are very close just not quite perfect.. With autos youl never get even close they r diluted genetics they have improved but still are far from good, worse quality lower yield and more difficult to do successfuly.. They claim to be faster too but you cannot force it to finish by doing 12 12 from seed so ime they were slower! Only reason id ever want em is for in a rush and they evem failed at that lol! Id recommend getting GH cheese and lemon skunk from greenhouse seedco then using canna A+B at 4ml per litre of regular tap water with 4ml lemon juice per L to correct Ph (best use a ph measurer but if u dont have then these measures will work just fine) use their own coco too professional plus if you can get it if not try get a decent pre buffered coco that is genuinely all you need i promise youd be amazed at the results too.. Lot of dodgy seed sellers about and a good breeder with good genetics is 95% of the battle won already thats why id strongly suggest lemon skunk and GH cheese from greenhouse seed co because they are both fully legit and stable strains they arent going to give you a totally random pheno every time (this actually went without saying until recent years! lol) a seed should be stable to deserve its name imo but yeah recently its been played off as 'pheno variety' rather than called out for the bad breeding it is.. Hope this helps, keep it simple and then next time youl be able to decide if the extras are even worth it like do they change it much? They dont make lots of difference tbh, u can try adding a PK halfway thru flower but it must be timed right and the improvement youl see isnt huge just a few %... Id recommend canna bost but it is very expensive so any alternative might be better for you youd want to look for 'triacontanol boosters' or 'seed sprout tea' or 'alfalfa tea' all versions of the same thing basically speeds up its metabolism that is about all you need though to be perfect and tbh the difference from perfect to just using canna A+B on its own isnt huge its mostly to do with genetics and strength of light.. The food can be almost any ol stuff rly and good genetics and light/heat will be the main factor.. Best of luck man id say shogun sumo boost is a fairly decent alternative boost for cheaper too afaik they are all just triacontanol but youd be surprised how good the bud is just with canna coco A+B on its own, the improvement as you add stuff is minimal.. Green planets 'Rezin' seems to help make more oils and lasts ages so is worth it imo.. Iv heard that best thing any indoor grower can do is buy a UVB tube, supposedly just an hour or 2 a day is enough to boost the oils resins terpenes and thc massively.. Iv not seen this myself yet but i do believe it to be true, LED uv isnt quite ready yet though so stick to the 'migro tubes' can get a uvb tube for the price of a pk boost, canna boost and rezin so id say grab the uvb tube first then add 1 additive at a time after that so that way you can track its effects and decide if you see worthwhile improvement to keep buying the additives :) i say pk boost, rezin, triacontanol/cannaBoost is about everything youd ever need altho just canna A+B will get you a banging harvest it really will lol.. Hope it goes well dude ✌❤👍@@Bigbilly-ms9bn

Key to topping auto's is timing day 18-20! Have 3 super lemon haze going right now. One is topped and two are not all are LSTed. The 1 that is topped will be giving me more then the other 2 combined...

Hello Turret Grower. I was watching the how and why to grow autos with Chris. First thanks. Now I will explain CO2 how and why. First my name is Rob, Linda is my wife and she is not doing good please everyone keep her in your prayers. I am a scientist/engineer y trade but basically I am an old hillbilly hippy that loves to grow things and grew up on a small farm. Horses and tomatoes and corn. Now plants do not eat a lot of the nutrients in the soil compared to photons and CO2. The dynamic duo just mentin

I accidently topped an auto this round and it grew the branches in 3 days and it didnt even look like it stressed. I topped regulars before that took 2 weeks for the branches to grow out so those autos kept growing fast. Its still growing and in 2nd week of flower so far. Its looking good.

I FIM'd my auto and I can't believe what it is now doing as it just hit beginning of flower. 6 main stalks split from the main stalks. the amount of bud sites is CRAZY. like you said, i barely saw any stress. unbelievable .

It's all about good genetics and ideal conditions. But with a lower quality seed and less than ideal conditions, the chance of an auto surviving HST is 50-50%
