@@breanna.O4O89O We have 7 layers of skin. The first 3-4 layers is our Epidermis and the other 3 layers, which are the deeper layers are known as the Dermis. The ink will penitrate only 1.5 to 2 cm down into the skin, this is nowhere near the Dermis which is deep, pretty far under the outermost layers of the skin, the Epidermis. On that note, we use Vaseline as a lube for a smoother needle intake process and also to protect the skin from damage. After all, you are stabbing yourself with a needle haha. Vaseline is petroleum jelly based. So it is safe to use as long as it's not entering the bloodstream. But, there are better options out there than Vaseline as well. Solutions that are much safer on the skin and they are produced and manufactured without all the harmful chemicals. They have more natural ingredients that is easier for your body to break them down and won't put you at risk if your inside become in contact with them. I always advise clients to do their homework before deciding what to use with/on their tattoos.

It really highly recommend that you shave the area you are about to tattoo as sometime there could be bacteria on the hair pieces. Also if you shave it will make it easier and make it have more of a clean line work.

to the people who are thinkin of trying this: make sure you shave the area, and use gloves. don't use Vaseline, use witch hazel wipes. after it is all done wipe it off with an alcohol wipe. when you are actually poking yourself don't go too deep or you will start to bleed and it can bleed out the ink (but there should be a small amount of plasma aka the clear liquid and that is perfectly fine) When poking yourself while pulling it out you should feel a small tug. also hold your skin tight doing it on loose skin depending on where it is can mess up your tattoo. When it is healed, cover it and don't let sun hit it and don't let it get wet. and clean it every once in a while with an alcohol wipe to prevent infection. Also test the ink out on yourself before hand to make sure you don't have allergies, happy poking everyone.

Vaseline is used to hold the ink under, so that its easier for you to see where you are poking and that the ink doesnt smudge around everywhere when you do your work lol so its fine to use it (every tattoo artist i've met uses it). As for aftercare, I dont generally advise using alcohol as an aftercare for tattoos as its technically a wound and while it disinfects germs and bacteria from the site, its very irritating to the site and can possibly cause the tattoo to not heal well. Its more advised to use fragrance free soap to wash the site with and use saniderm to wrap it with to cover for a couple of hours or days.If it falls off on its own even after an hour or 2 while you are in the shower or something, just let it be and gently rinse the site to remove blood/plasma. . Use tattoo aftercare like tattoo goo or shea butter to keep your tattoo well moisturized and prevents it from becoming too itchy while it scabs and heals over. With the itchy part, DO NOT SCRATCH your tattoo while it heals! as you can end up picking off ink as well which can cause patchiness. These are tips i gotten from over 3 different tattoo artists that i got tattoos from them :)

Please don't wipe your fresh tattoo with an alcohol wipe. No professional does this and if they do run. Clean it well before hand and you can wipe it with green soap dilution or distilled water.

I'm new at stick n poke, I recently tattoed myself for the first time but If I remember correctly, the reason ink scatters around is, you're pushing the needle too deep. We're supposed to poke it to the second layer of our skin, there's epidermis, (the surface) there is dermis (the second part, that's where we want to reach for a healthy tattoo.) and there is another layer underneath that. When you poke too deep, it scatters. At least that's how I remember it. I just wanted to share the knowledge. the design is pretty cool. :]
@ConstaMClose
3 жыл бұрын
How do you know when you've reached the 2nd layer of skin?
@pretary1845
2 жыл бұрын
@@ConstaMClose For future readers- you have to feel for it... (Whats "it?") Well, start lighter rather than too hard of course, but you do need to go deep enough.... So you might have to stab yourself/the person you're tattooing a few times no matter what, because everyones skin is different, and every area has different skin thickness.. (Thigh/Ankle).. You know you're deep enough when you pull it out and almost feel it "pop" a bit. There's various ways you can imagine it- but for example a straw going into a fast food cup, when pulled out, the top of the cup kind of "holds" or "pulls" on the straw, or for example... during sex, often on the exit motion, a womans vagina will "grip" it on the way out, until either the straw, or the penis exits the lid and vagina respectively and they let go.... Right? It's quite literally audible, as well. Almost like the sound of an eyebrow hair being plucked quickly that's got a pretty good follicle in there.. So, you can "feel" the pop with your hand... You can SEE you're deep enough when the needle pulls up the skin. And you can actually hear it if you're close enough in my experience... THAT'S how deep you need to go and no further... If you're stabbing the skin, and it's just getting kinda pressed down and stabbed by the needle, and the skin is bouncing back, or just staying in the same spot but getting stabbed, go deeper.... Once you feel that "pluck" the first few times, you know what people mean when they talk about that, and you just need to figure out how hard you need to poke to get that (satisfying) feeling, without overdoing it needlessly, making it hurt more, blowing out the tattoo, and in general just making the entire area take way more of a beating than it needs to... Stick n Poke is generally a fairly gentle process... It should technically do less damage and often hurt less than a gun, (which is MUCH easier to blow out a tattoo with both since you're not the surgeon with the fine utensil feeling for each mark, as well as delicately poking each mark. You press too hard for one stroke w/ a gun and you've got a blown out inch of linework...) I can't speak for every place you get it, or anyones pain levels- but if you've GOTTEN a tattoo, and you know the pain with a gun, just know a stick and poke should not have you squirming in your chair and each stab feeling like torture.. It hurts... It's a group of small needles. But if you imagine the biggest shot/vaccine you've ever gotten in your arm, but think about the fact that it only needs to go a mm or 2 in the skin, let's be real it's not that bad and if you can't imagine that, you can't poke yourself... I hate shots... Don't get me wrong.. I always look away... But that's cause it's going an inch into my arm... Again.. TL:DR feel for the "pop" or the "pluck" like an eyebrow hair that doesn't wanna pull out. Or a penis.

A great way to do this if you're not sure how far to push the needle in is just to practice with no ink. Choose a relatively pain-free spot (e.g stomach, sternum, or shin) and go at about a 45 degree angle. You'll be able to feel when the needle breaks through the very top layer of the skin and you know not to go further than that. Another handy tip is to stretch the skin out before you poke, just to keep it from sliding around.

Kinda like how you would do those temporary tats as a kid (well atleast me lol) I've done heaps of home job tats and I find having a stencil or transfer paper to trace makes it easier. for the pain i recommend put ice in the area that you're gonna tattoo for at least 10 or 20 min before

how far would you poke on your fingers? specifically near the nail
@brooklynbloom
Жыл бұрын
you mean how deep? only 1mm-2mm. For me, I notice it's when the skin makes kind of a "pop" sound. Once I hear or feel that pop, I don't really go much deeper. It shouldn't really hurt too much.

Wash the area and wash your hands, then place dirty quarter on your arm to trace your base shape. 🧐👌🏼😃 Loose change travels and is probably not the brightest idea for using as a tracer. But still, I hope your ok and hope no one else thinks to use loose butt nasty change to trace anything on their body. Be safe girl, money travels! And I honor your bravery for doing hand poke tattoos, I only go to the professionals for my tattoos.

lol you don't know this about me but I am a huge germaphobe - I am so bad that anytime I touch money, even my debit card/wallet I HAVE to wash my hands asap. I have hand sanitizer in my purse, my wallet, my car, my glovebox and bottles all over my house. So the quarter was def disinfected before put on my arm (:

you don't need to poke that far in. when you're poking, you'll hear/feel the needle go past a layer of skin and kinda hear a quiet pop. if you aren't sure i'd recommend poking without ink forst so you can see how far in to go
