Another clear, no frills lesson, Lynden. Thank you! Two things I like about your playing are your timing, and articulation. You regularly come up with a surprising place in the beat to put a note. But it always works. I would love it if you could do a video about your approach to time. Of course, another one on articulation would be cool too! Be well!

Very cool. Your channel came up on my YT page and I thought I'd check-it-out because my father's (who played tenor) favorite player was Stan Getz. I like the way you explain the theory and I can see myself using some of your ideas for guitar. Thanks and cheers!

Hi there, thank you for this. Funnily enough a few of my one to one private clients also play guitar and they all say that having a better understanding the the theory side of things because of their saxophone lessons has a positive impact on their guitar playing 🤝🤝😎😎🎷🎷

You're very welcome. I'm not surprised and I can understand why they feel that way. There are many sax players, particularly tenor, that I love, but I've never really tried to adapt their lines in my playing. I really should do that though. Don't know if you've ever heard of him, but Bob Mintzer is a phenomenal player. Check-him-out if you haven't already. Cheers!

Glad you're featuring your own saxes in the lessons - seems an obvious way to sell them! You have a very distinctive style. Most online sax trainers are expert players (e.g. Scott Paddock, funk; Jay Metcalf, jazz) but only you seem to make the horn talk. The 'sax whisperer' I deem thee. If I could get the same out of your horn as you're getting here I'd buy one in an instant.

@@newscrews11 That is so kind of you to say, I am a humble function gig player with many thousands of gigs experience playing at weddings and corporate functions over the last 25 years or so. I’m not a hard jazzer, and at a wedding or corporate function the brief is to sound as lovely as you can and so that’s what I’ve spent my playing career focusing on. I’m self taught too as you probably know and I try to constantly better my skills, knowledge and understanding of my craft and these complex musical skills that make up improvisation can be broken down into bite-sized chunks and that’s how I learn and it’s also how I share my knowledge. I wouldn’t describe myself as an expert in anything really. I have no qualifications in music or teaching music, yet I’m a veteran of 1000’s gigs and even more 1000’s in teaching hours and the people who’ve hired me for gigs have always been delighted with my sound, and the feedback I get from these tutorials and my lessons is also extremely encouraging. You can get a sound like mine. In all honesty the MP and reed set up is arguably more important than the saxophone, as long as the sax is functioning properly and is good quality. It’s your embouchure, reed choice and to me, the intention that goes behind every note. It’s what’s in your mind when you play. I aim to move between each note like a dancer would move between each step they take, with mindfulness and as much grace as possible. Try it. Take C major and play each note as mindfully, slowly, exquisitely as you can, don’t rush, and make the transition between each step as smooth and beautiful as you can 🤝🤝😎😎🎷🎷 As always, thank you for your feedback and your support 🎷❤️🎷❤️

@@lyndenblades Sounds like a skill we all need. Too many go for notiness and mindless complexity when all the muggles want is a tune that augments their emotions. Make a video. And is your tenor really only £675 plus delivery, inc discount code? Jamie Anderson has just reviewed the new wunderkind on the block, Jay Metcalf's Classic, and that's £1299!
