I love how unrealistically perfect the video is. I'd love to see the outtakes and all the people that worked behind the scenes.

If the horizontal braces are for extra gluing area and rigidity, then why not install them rotated so that the 4" side of the 2x4 is facing you? That would give you even more gluing area.

What’s the fire patch for????
@johnburns2940

I learned what the patch is for in another video. If you will be accessing the mixing valve from the back side with an soldering torch, this fireproof patch will guard against melting the acrylic panel. Cheers

@@johnburns2940 Thank you! They should mention that in the video. I'm sitting here thinking "how is a fire going to spread into the tub? And what's the purpose of the patch if you are going to cut a hole in it anyway?"

DELTA, You need to increase your backer boards on these flimsy surrounds and update your Sealant choices. The adhesive sealants you list are just not available and we called twice until a rep said to use Dap Amp. Also, place a 2 by or 1 by behind the front wall where your toe kicks it. These tubs and surrounds are flimsy.

Concerning the Delta Classic 400, does the backside of the concave side wall of the 48x34 shower alcove like the one in your video stick out 3/4 inch closer to the stud wall than the top edge? I am trying to figure out where to place the diverter (R22000 WS) if not can you tell me how thick the side wall is? I didn’t find it in the directions

This looks so easy, but beware this thing is a nightmare to install. Nothing matches up on the edges of the panels, on mine there was almost a 1/2 inch difference in the height of the three panels on the abutting corners. You would at least expect the darn parts to mesh correctly. I am matching this tub surround to a Delta curve tub. Will never install one of these pieces of junk again!

CAUTION: I you aren’t paying attention, it’s possible to install the end walls on the wrong sides. It’ll still go together that way, but when you go to install the curved glass door kit, you’ll find that the curved glass doors are no longer an option if you have the end walls reversed. Seems laughable to think anyone could do that & not catch it during the dry fit, but believe me, it’s possible. Because I’d already drilled holes, caulked, finished, and painted my sheet rock before I realized I’d made the mistake, I ended up installing a curved shower rod just above the shower walls & that works, but the only reason I went with the tub in the first place was because I liked the glass doors on it.

This tub and surround are flawed. Water runs from the channel all the way to the open end and down into the wall on the right side. You can see the open end of the channel. Unless you literally install the tub so that it is leaning back slightly, water will drain into the wall. It is a nightmare. Installed in a new home and still today I have'nt been able to find someone to rip it out. I bought the same tub for upstairs and regret it. What a completely idiotic design. It ruined the dry wall and my floor swelled up so now I have to rip up flooring. We have only taken baths for months because the shower is what causes the problems. Water going into the channel and having nowhere to go and overflows into the wall. It really should have a closed off end on the channel or "lip" Why they left it open is a mystery and just stupid.
