I just installed the ThermoBob from Rocky Mountain. My temp stays right around 191F while riding. Great product. Based on Bill's research, it is a much-needed addition.

You missed a step, where there is 3 philips head screws on the inside a fairing where the fairing fastens to plastic radiator shroud. Other than that excellent installation.

Why is no sealant used in the thermostat housing sandwich?

What exactly is the benefit of that? (because it's introducing another source of leaks, something to avoid at all costs...)

The Thermo-Bob helps the KLR get up to the proper temperature and keep it there instead of having large fluctuations in temperatures like with the factory setup.

The Thermo-Bob 2 will fit. If you don't care to see your temp you don't have to get the thermostat.

No, it does not. There is a full technical write up from Watt-Man where they go in-depth on the KLR cooling system and what the Thermo-Bob does if you want to check that out. Here's a link to that write up: watt-man.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Art_TB_Testing.pdf

Common sense would say install immediately at purchase, even though it voids warranty (I'm sure). I live in Canada, thermal variance is a thing, especially riding into late October down to 0°c. Would you recommend doing it immediately? After break in? Or after 1 year warranty is up? Great vid, thanks, G

I just purchased a new KLR last Friday and it only has 1 mile. I did order the 2A kit to install before I take it out for it's first ride. Here in the USA, the manufacturer may have to prove that the modification caused any issues during a warrant claim, and in the case of installing the Thermo-Bob, I cannot see what damage it could cause.

This question is slightly off topic, what kind of coolant I need to use to top of my 2022 klr? It's closer to L that F on reservoir..
@rmatvmc
7 ай бұрын
We have a few options that would work great like the Maxima Coolanol ( www.rockymountainatvmc.com/parts/maxima-coolanol-p ) and Bel-Ray Moto Chill ( www.rockymountainatvmc.com/parts/bel-ray-moto-chill-racing-coolant-p ). Also, make sure you don't overfill the reservoir. When the engine is cold it should be around the L and then when the bike is warm it will raise to the F.

Why couldn't you just drill a very small hole in thermostat that way it'll let a small amount of water to flow all the time easy peasey.
