Dudes advice is on point. I'm 53 and 5'11, although i was a much better 2 foot leaper when I was in my 20s, I still used to practice the same techniques off one foot for extension and acceleration. Since I could palm a basketball with my left hand it made the technique off my right foot much easier, with much more control as well. To strengthen those calf muscles, I also highly suggest constantly walking around the house on your toes, and stand on the edge of any step and using your toes for balance do "toe rises".... up and down until you can stand yourself any longer. The toe rises will help with a two foot vertical immensely, and in a short period of time you'll be tossing the ball off the backboard or on a bounce able to crush dunks. You can jump higher without the ball, so if you have small hands it's beneficial to do something off the board or bounce. Anyway, this dude has good advice, main thing is putting in the work, in a few months you'll see quite the difference.

guys he is right about everything. when i did cross country i didn’t really have the power and fast twitch to get up and dunk like him. but i was able to feel the ability to pop off one leg with maximum effort without getting injured. I would run really fast and blow by people with my first step and jump off one foot the key thing was going faster as i was about to jump because i was transferring all that speed from my sprint to vertically in the air. in other words if you want to jump high you have to build up the ability to transfer your speed to up. in order to do that you have to become a faster sprinter and also lose enough weight or become strong enough to the shock of going in to a complete stop going full speed. a good way to train this is doing anything that requires landing with control and being comfortable on your toes.

Included with what he said I like to jump and run in the water. Use weights too. Run full speed in 4 ft of water. Jump as high as you can really fast again and again in water with weights. Jump rope is great too but use weights like ankle weights. Get an inversion table if you want to be taller because people get smaller by gravity pushing down on our cartilage. The astronauts came back 3 inches taller because there wasn't any gravity so not only does an inversion table take off gravity effect it reverses the pull of gravity on our cartilage and we can be taller.

Just worry about getting better ! Fear is a mindset , no reason to fill your mind w/ the negative if yk you have a goal in mind ! Solely focus on the positives of getting better and I am not to say you wont mess up (that would be a naïve mindset) but @ the end of the day, its all a process: a sprint not a marathon! You’ll get better in due time , just put the work in!

Also for prevention, athletic optimization, etc., Optimal Nutrition is key! Almost no one is doing this right and people conveniently ignore it. Nutritarian/WFPB diet is the most optimal way to eat. Watch the Documentaries "Game Changers" and "Forks over Knives" and check out videos here on YT by Dr. Joel Fuhrman!

I literally gained like 3 inches just from that. Im a freshman in highschool, and only 5’7. Im only about 1 1/2 inches to 2inches away form touching the rim. Before, I was about 4 1/2 inches to 5 inches away. Thank you so much. Edit: Next day and I can’t jump as high anymore. I think it was just a fluke for me yesterday.

No that happens sometimes when you take a break when jumping so much you’ll come back with a much more higher vert. I’m 22 and an 1in from touching rim and I had the same problem you did. Just take a week or 2 off and just work out your legs and core and resistance.

@@BoopBoop508 Well, 11 months later, Im now about 5’10, and can get about 2-3 inches over the rim. I can almost rim graze, but I have had a lot of knee and hip problems, so that stopped me for about a few months.

Also a key to jumping higher is stretching and jump rope and lifting. When I was in collage I would jump rope every day for a total of 3 min. Min one leg left and right and 1 min on both legs at the same time. I went from dunking every blue moon.. lol To dunking to multiply times in a game.. I'm 6'2 and when i was in my prime I could touch the top of the white box.
