Cracking video. The big difference I find is the tonneau cover in place on the passenger side . Really traps the warmth in and I don't have a heater. The half hood is brilliant for retaining the heat on those early starts and late nights

Thanks Nick. That's a good tip and also a bit surprising that it helps even without a heater. I think I would struggle not having a heater.

You could probably go through anything with the full hood on, and I find that the best comfort is with the rear window kept open 😊

My window doesn't open unfortunately, but I'm really not a fan of the full hood. Half hood is alot mote comfortable and probably simular to having the window unzipped if you have that one.

Another great video James , someone once said to me that driving a caterham in winter with the roof off is like having your body in the bath and your head in the freezer, which was so true when I went to a breakfast car meet last Saturday when the temperature was minus two , 😂 Please keep the videos coming 👍

Hi ha ha yes that's a great description. If you don't have a heated body warmer I would highly recommend one. They work great and really useful to have anyway.

Having bought my (first!) Caterham this summer, I am suddenly discovering actually how cold it gets in the UK! I have the heated vest, a tip from a biker friend but I recently also bought a pair of heated socks (around £20) - I have an aftermarket heater which is pretty much useless and found my feet going numb in the tiny shoes you have to wear while driving. Hey presto, problem solved!

Hi and congratulations on getting your Caterham. What spec have you got? I've never heard of heated socks. I dont think I've ever had cold feet or legs only the top half.

Love it! I generally have the fan on 1, not 2, it's plenty with the half hood on!

Hi Bert. Yes I agree I was just trying to get it as hot as I could for the experiment. It's surprising how hot it gets with the half hood on.

Went for a drive last Sunday with the Westie and as a Hill Climbing variant, no heating so... 🥶

Hi that is very brave. The heated body warmer is brilliant if you don't have one of those.

Very nice video. And funny you made a little experiment, I always love an experiment. I have never heard of a heated vest, but that is genius. Thank you for making funny and useful video, so when I one day get a Caterham I can use your tricks🤙

Thanks. The heated body warmer is really helpful. It gets power from a powerbank that's kept inside. Great for keeping warm anywhere. It was perfect when I was putting up the Christmas lights outside.

We can vouch for the effectiveness of a heated waistcoat.

A good coat with funnel neck, a good cap & a tonneau. Tonneau’s are truly a lost article of motoring.

Hi Drew thanks for your comment. I found it interesting to hear from someone else that having a tonneau even without a heater helps. I'll have to look into it.
