I thought the side seams were sewed too but I see now that if they were it would then be a sweater. LOL I think I would prefer side seams sewn and I can't wait to make this. Thank you.

Why would you pick up and knit for the ribbing when the sticth count is the same. Why not just start with the rib then move straight into the 4 row repeat? Seems highly unnecessary to me?

Hey there Stuart- thanks so much for your comment. You could absolutely start with the rib and then move on to the 4 row repeat. Picking up the stitches at the end is good if you need (or want) to add on an extra inch or two. I guess it totally depends on personal preference, which is the great thing about crafting :)
