You deserve far more views! It's a shame that shorthand doesn't have a larger community; if it was larger, you'd have an amazingly large audience to go with it!

Omg I think I found the perfect channel for me !! I’m wanting to make my own shorthand to make my journals harder to read for others. I want to be able to feel like I can have privacy in writing about my life, thoughts, and personal interpretations of how I experience existing. Aesthetic/romanticizing is a key factor for me to be consistent with things too. I’m so excited to learn from you, thank you !!! 💕

Also I think it would be useful for typing on your phone. Like sending messages to friends and so on. If you have a stylus. Maybe combined with an option to use a steno keyboard.

Just found your channel and became a new subscriber. I remember learning Gregg shorthand when I was a teenager because my Mum who had the most beautiful shorthand used to write her Christmas lists in shorthand. So I learned it so I could see what I was getting for Christmas ahead of time! P.S. no surprise, Mum figured out what I was up to and left me a special message in shorthand one day! I never peeked again, and I'm trying to relearn now! 💜💜💜✍

@shorthandist I am just starting to learn shorthand, and I have seen that many videos and "courses" are not really that helpful. Although, I did find that the how to learn shorthand was petty helpful... It would be pretty cool to see another video maybe showing a full chart of the strokes or what ever you'd call them.. Although, I guess the how to learn Gregg vid kinda shows that... Idk I think this channel is pretty cool.

How long to realistically learn this Gregg shorthand?
@shorthandist
5 ай бұрын
It depends on your goals with it. If you want to write 200 words per minute, and use it for live dictation, it's probably going to take a couple years of diligent practice. If you want to become generally proficient at reading and writing, and are just writing for yourself and your own notes, I think a great deal can be accomplished in 6-12 months.

Your writing is nice--but, oh, what a fist! Back in the day when penmanship was taught, we were "encouraged" to balance the pen over the top of the knuckle on the middle finger. In fact, many of us got a writer's bump on that knuckle as a result--and it was regarded as a right of passage. I mention this not to be overly pedantic or old school, but rather because it gives greater flexibility to the pen and more control over it, making the writing more fluid and connected.

Hi, can you do how to increase speed and accuracy while writing Pitman's Shorthand. Ps. If you do this, please do these videos in your beautiful, artistic and vintage-istic style, I just loved it!
@shorthandist
10 ай бұрын
Thank you! Unfortunately I don't know Pitmans! However, I would say the principles are the same for improving speed and accuracy. You need to be fluent in the system, and you need to become a good reader of pitman, so that your eye is very familiar what what things should look like. I hope the videos can help with general principles even if it's a different system!
