My question is many videos are putting different numbers in audio gain but no body explain how we choose the right number 😅

Well, now I understand compression better than I have ever before. I've been dancing around fully understanding compression for a few years now (my lazy ass fault), but this directly helps improve the quality of my stuff. Thank you!

This was great Will. Thanks for taking the time to explain how each of the "knobs" in the compressor impacts the overall sound. Normally I apply the Multiband compressor via the audio track mixer. What you taught will help me understand how to fine tune even those settings.

This was a very useful tutorial! Could you explain to a newbie your reasoning for adjusting to -30dB 5:25? Why didn't you stay at -20dB? Thanks...

Thanks! That number is based on the input volume your source audio has. You want to find the ‘sweet’ spot for where your specific audio is and set it there which tells the compressor that’s the volume where you want the compressor to do it’s thing

Thanks for sharing this. Just wondering why the waveforms shown on the clip in the timeline do not update to show the changes made by the compressor.

It’s the same process :) all you do is add it to the master track in the track mixer window and add similar settings!

I always feel this sounds unnatural when I do it, so I resort to the ole pen tool lol tedious

It’s based on how loud you want it to be, so every audio track will be different. Basically; how much gain (volume) do you want to add? When does it sound loud enough or good enough to you? (That’s how much)
