This is my first attempt at a how to video so i apologize about it being out of focus at times and the random noises in the background. Feel free to ask any questions. Enjoy!
Great video, when I was a kid my relicing process took 1 minute with a hammer and then rubbing the car against the concrete floor. I buried it afterwards in the garden and my Grandma dug it out accidentally a few years later It looked the same way. Cool memories

car covers can be made too with tissue paper moisten with watered-down white glue; I use that to make shop rags for 1/24 scale cars.
@MossRods
8 жыл бұрын
my friend told me about that technique recently and I tried it on another car and I like it a lot better, easier to fold over itself and make it look more realistic. I used blue shop towels so I don't have to paint them

Very cool, as a kid I used to do that kind of display for hotwheels and now that I am old and looking for a new hobby and do not want to pay crazy prices I thought it would be fun to restore or distress cheap yard sale toy cars.

woodturningjohn one of the reasons I like this hobby us because it's cheap. you can buy 25 brand new hot wheels for the price of a model kit, and weathering these little things is pretty addictive

Do you have any tips on denting cars? Like to make them seem destroyed/broken. I've seen plenty of them but i've never really known how to do it correctly
@MossRods
7 жыл бұрын
Alexninja03 in the video I used a dremel with a round carving bit to make the dents, the trick is to make them deeper than you'd think they should be because when you paint it the dents become shallower. I have a friend who specializes in making cars out of tin foil, when you build them like that it's easier to make the dents. I'm trying to convince him to make a tutorial
@Citydell
7 жыл бұрын
BMoss Ah, thanks. Also, have you done any bent models? I've been interested in this and also your flat tire method worked alot better than I expected. But anywho I mean like completely bent hoods and stuff to make it seem like it wrecked into a pole or something
@MossRods
7 жыл бұрын
Alexninja03 it's tough to make these cars look like they were in a wreck due to the thickness of the metal. That is where the foil cars come in handy. I have tried to make hot wheels cars look like they hit a way or something and I haven't had much success. Roll overs are easy because you just smash the roof
@Citydell
7 жыл бұрын
BMoss Ah, thank you very much BMoss. I'm currently working on one of my own cars. I've been playing a game called BeamNG so if I wanted to make a realistic looking wreck, i'll roll over my car, and then bam I have something very similar.
