That’s a cool way to route dovetails. Most dovetail routing jigs produce dovetails that are all the exact same size and look machine built. This gives at least some ability to do custom sized dovetails. The only limitation is the inability to do the narrow pin style of dovetails, which still requires hand sawing. But this is definitely an improvement over commercial jigs. Thanks for sharing!

This is beautiful. I've never seen anybody work like this. He's gotta be Japanese. He even sings while he works!--and you can hear him talking to himself a couple times, or maybe to his cat. Lucky cat,

Incredible!!! You are a genius! I am studying Japanese woodworking in Japan, but I am finding that ancient Korean and Chinese woodworking was just as intricate, delicate and strong not to mention esthetically pleasing to the eye, but you have the skills of a modern woodworker with the delicate genius of our ancient and high skilled Asian brothers. Keep doing what you do! I will watch whatever you put out there. I cannot do it all, but I sure do enjoy watching.

Great dovetail jig. I'm thinking over the basic principles involved in your making it. I like the versatility. I have made and used the evenly spaced finger types. They are fast as you are cutting the pins and the tails at the same time. But this is different. You are getting a dovetail that is variable spaced and quite accurate. This just might get made for use in my shop to. I appreciate the time you took to make this video. Thanks for sharing.

I personally think the most important lesson we can all learn from this video is the simplest one. Listen to the man humming a song while he's working. He's relaxed and enjoying himself. He's not stressing about every little detail. This is how you work with a material and create something beautiful.

Watching a very complicated video with no explanations is tough. The only thing I didn't get was the depth settings and unexplained wedging settings was a little iffy. LOVE your designs and work but need plans to really figure out the processes needed to get a final product. DON'T stop - just find a way to explain what's going on.

Clyde Decker c'mon man... je is pointing us in the right direction....but we have to use our own brainpower to get the rest of the way.... Too much detail & we might as well just buy a pre-machined kit... I don't think he .... or u.... want that ?? 😎
