Awesome and time worn pattern is still holding up! Some years ago, I used this pattern to make this very crocheted cat for my new kitten. Fast forward 3 years later, and she's still claiming this mouse as her FAVORITE toy "catch." She will carry it throughout the house while meowing, she leaves it at my bedroom door as her "Mom, look what I have for you gift" and when she's not leaving it for me at my bedroom door, she is sleeping with it. Well, the pattern is easy to follow, and the toy was looking fantastic after completion. Three years of wear & tear (the mouse has definitely seen better days), but she still loves it! I'm going to make another for her, in hopes she'll accept it so 'we' can put her old one to rest. (I wanted to upload a then & now pic, but I appear to be technologically challenged and couldn't figure out how to do so). Many thanks to you!

Hi, I'm a super beginner in crochet who has really only done scarves before, and first of all, thank you for the tutorial. I liked that you didn't skip any steps. But as a beginner, I was really confused when you started the second row, and I think it would have really helped if you said what you were doing for each step with more detail.

I love how this is no-sew! I made one and I loved it so much that I made 2 more so each of my 3 friends with a cat could have one. Then everyone who I showed my work to told me about their friend's cat who would love it and I ended up making 8 in total! All the cats I've gifted to love the toy so far! Even the laziest cat got up to play with it! I put things inside to make it jingle as it moves to help with the cat's enrichment.

I’m a beginner crocheter and this tutorial was super easy! For the stuffing, I saw poly fill was used what other stuffings could I use I tried Cotten but I feel as it doesn’t hold its shape that well and the mice I’m tying to make are for a kitten
@MummaJCrochet
3 жыл бұрын
Poly fill is probably the best, sometimes I buy new cheap pillows and use the stuffing from them. I've also heard of people using newspaper and scrap yarn but I'm not sure how well that would work for a kitten toy.

@Pouquiloury

When you use scrap yarn from real wool (I save every bit of tail, no matter how small), you can either pluck the wool apart to look like polyfill (which is acrylic made to look like wool fur) or you can just use the bits of yarn as is. When the wool isn't superwashed ( it's a treatment) it will felt in time because of the moisture and rubbing during play. I have made similar mice in wool, a lot bigger though, with a flap so I can put dry catfood and some treats in them so my indoor cats can hunt for their food. You could also make the rear end with a drawstring to fill with catnip, food or treats. When you put plastic or metal (bells) inside I do recommend a totally closed version, as you don't want the cats to swallow any non-digestables. Btw, my tiny dog likes them as well. Really shakes them as prey.
