Good lawd. That Christopher Columbus tomfoolery of an 'ode" to halo-halo. And that editor is still there. But I guess that was before they had a more "evolved" editorial standards as that old recipe now has disclaimer. Curious if there are other Christopher Columbus versions of ethnic recipes BA will redo 👀

Don't let all the steps intimidate you, go make your first halo halo today! Throw in random jello, fruits, ice cream, and cereal on shaved ice with condensed milk and you got yourself a halo halo (which means "random mixed stuff" in Filipino). So put any ingredient as you please. It's all halo halo 😁

God I am so fascinated by this dish. I learned about it just a few weeks ago, and I just can't wrap my head around this combination of ingredients- mostly because I've never heard of most of them- but I would so like to try it. What the heck is corn doing in there? Ugh I need to find out for myself!
@vincentvalencia4501

There is another variation of filipino shaved ice dessert that is corn centric called maiz con hielo. Essentially it's just shaved ice, canned cream corn, evaporated milk mixed with sweetened condensed milk. Uncle Harold just made it a bit fancy by roasting the corn kernels to make it easy you can just use the canned one. Either the cream style or the whole kernel. I tend to mix both.

The reason why Filipino's call it Bone, is because in Filipino, Buto is an interchangeable word for both Seed and bone. That's why it's hard for other people to understand because it's basically the same word, no difference in pronunciation, just using different additional context to differentiate which of the two you are referring to. Add the fact that some Filipino even jokingly twist the confusing terms to mess with people.
