Very interesting approach to achieving the effect. However, I'd like to request if you could go into explaining why you opt to go for certain kinds of math nodes (Fraction, Minimum, Logarithmic etc) and the particular values as well. It would be of great help and people like me (the kind with 0 math abilities in our brains) can wrap around these concepts more visually. Hope you can consider it. Thanks, and keep it going!

To be honest I don't really know what the logarithmic function does, it just worked when testing it. The minimum caps the values given to it, and fraction repeats a gradient of 0-1. I'll try to explain these as I use them in the future.

I've learned more from your tutorials than I have with any other procedural materials tutorial on KZitem, and I've been learning to use Blender since 2007. Thank you for the great tutorials. I knew about animation before using Blender, I'd gone to college for 3D Modeling and Animation, but the software I was trained on was way out of my price range, still is, that's why I use Blender 3D. The training that I have is very old and out of date, this is before any software was using quad faces, everything was still triangular faces back when I was first learning 3D computer modeling and animation. The software was 3D Studio R-4, not to be confused with 3D Studio Max 4, this is before the Max (Windows version of the software, the 1994 old DOS version of 3D Studio).

Finally figured out two things: Blender 4 or newer auto adds the node he adds to the material output; and it has to be #frame/ the number you use, not . the number. So it would be #frame/24 or #frame/20 for the add value :) This fixed the animation for me, at least!

@neilmarshall5087

Use a particle system - not Geo Nodes. You need to remove the random timing or you can get the 'end' of puddles at the start of the individual instance.
