Usually the ratio in most of the construction tasks is 4:1 sand/ cement...3:1 it's a very strong mix..good for when you want extra strength walls,floors etc...

Thanks Nick always nice too see how things are done for the home DIY'R can i just say you should always wet the wheelbarrow 1st with water it stops a build up of cement sticking to the steel. If i didnt have a mixer i would do my mix on a sheet of ply wood i find it frustrating mixing in a wheelbarrow just saying.
@projectportugal
Жыл бұрын
Yeah you are right, but with ply at 60+ € a sheet now I thought a barrow would be more economical 😁

why do you not recommend using dish soap
@projectportugal
Жыл бұрын
Dish soap can weaken the mortar and make it crumble over time, maybe because they contain salts, plus it tends to encourage efflorescence which is unsightly, and it's s bit more expensive

Very useful. 😁 What mix would you use for the foundations for a few rows of blocks to put a shed or small greenhouse on? How does self levelling cement compare? Is it worth it? Oh and of course, it's COARSE sand. 😀

For foundations it's a different mix, you need to add aggregate ( video coming soon

Thanks Nick, good stuff. Do you buy the everbuild optimix plasticiser in the UK or have you found it available in Portugal? I have found SikaCim in PT which is also a capillary blocker so i assume it's equal in waterproofing mortar.

Amateurish video (including microphone shots), lacking technical content (it's COARSE sand) Typical bodger content produced for "click bait" purposes or a self induced thought that "we have to produce content, meaningful or not" to keep up views

Sorry about the spelling mistake 😬 It's supposed to be a simple explanation not having technical content was intended, thanks for you comment😁
