Hi, I love this video! I've just become an AFOL in the last year havin rediscovered my love of lego😂 I'm broke now of course! I live this videoAND that you're an Australian lego youtuber. I think I've only found you so far. Don't get me wrong I've found tonnes but none Australian and it's good to get an Aussies review and price as I don't have to convert everything! Have you made any new cars for this train? Seeing as I'm new I have no clue! Also, have you put lights on it? I'd love to put lights on mine, but am waiting on my powered up hub. Yes I did it the expensive way🙄 bought both separately as I only saw your channel after I bought them lol! Any help would be appre with extra cars and lights Thanks, keep up the good work!

How did this work out when you got it onto your city track? I looked for a follow-up video but can't see one on your channel. I'm interested in motorizing this the same way you did, but I'm worried about how fast the train seemed to be - I don't want it to go quite so quickly.
@GJBricks
3 жыл бұрын
You are right to worry. I thought I had done it. The train is light and you’re pushing the train so full speed is a bad idea. But anything up to about level 7 is good. And 2-3 is a nice speed for a train like this.

The motor is under the battery box in the tender (coal carrying car). You could put the motor under a one of the other cars, the problem is the length of it looks odd as it’s shorter than the cars
@train-traum-madabouttrains5005

Hm... in my experience, it isn't working that well. Due to the wide whire and the low weight of the engine - especially it's frond - it derails realls fast in curved track! Did anyone else made similar experience? :-o
@GJBricks
4 жыл бұрын
It seemed to run ok on my track. But I would like to make the engine a little bigger/heavier. But that always seems to be a problem. I think if I’d motorised the tender it would be a real problem!
@train-traum-madabouttrains5005
4 жыл бұрын
@@GJBricks Within a normal setup it might be okay - but I made a layout with several curved tracks - where weren't any 10 minutes without any derailing :-/ At least motorizing this train is easier than morotizing the Toy Story, Hidden Side, Hogwarts or the Loneranger Train :D

Jang is still predicting the worst, which is fine. I'm with the other camp that are positive that we are OK. And Glad you liked the tender approach. I had thought of putting the engine in it like I did for the Hogwarts, but thought it would make it too big and possibly push the train off. I think for my next one I want to put the motor in the engine itself, and probably use Technic rather than the standard train bogey.

Looks great. Probably goes fast because the Disney train is a lot bigger and heavier than this one, especially with just the engine and tender. I might attempt putting the motor under the tender instead of the engine, as I prefer the leaf springs detail pieces under that - personally I think they look a bit odd on the engine itself. 😉
@GJBricks
4 жыл бұрын
I thought about doing it that way, but two things. The train itself is quite light and I think it might have derailing problems. And I thought it would make the tender too large compared to the train as you have to make it quite tall to accommodate the motor and it's pin on top.
