this video is exactly the idea we need more in creative spaces. do not underestimate the power of posting to instagram/youtube consistently, especially as an artist. I spent all of last year posting almost daily to Instagram (reels and posts) along with weekly to KZitem, engaging with fellow creators and sharing advice, making friends in my industry, and now I have a very stable/reliable income pertaining to my creative career and starting to work with bigger companies. wish I had this video when I was first starting, great stuff man!

Thank you for pointing out that it will just take time. I noticed that the more impatient I got, the less motivation I had to put out new videos. Knowing that it takes time is a really comforting thought. It takes time to get get good ideas, it takes time to get comfortable with the mic / camera etc... I juggle a lot of different project at once and I was developing a fear of not "developing" fast enough on KZitem. It was taking all the joy out of it. But you're right, it's a slow game. Thanks for the advice

What is appealing with your videos is that you do provide a lot of value in a short amount of time. It is interesting to hear your insights, because it shows that you gained the knowledge through your personal experience and not only theory. I find this social media game overwhelming, so for me it helps to think, that I don't need everyone to see my posts. It is enough that correct people see it (in this case, my existing network).

Hearing you say that people expect or desire views on their showreels was extremely eye opening into the mind of the pure creative. Someone untainted by failure who believes art should speak for itself. Only in a perfect world, friends…. I’m probably similar to you (an assumption made SOLELY from this video as I’ve never come across you before, don’t be insulted if I’m baby food 😂). Great network with strong connections that I honestly just got lucky to build. I was grinding for years obviously to learn the trade, and used a similar method of cold dm’s to get started, but once you have 2-3 clients who are thrilled about you they really open things up for you, and you only get that through networking. Very rarely art. I don’t have a show reel, I don’t have a big body of work that lives anywhere really, so hearing that as a major staple in a growth plan just never even occurred to me. I just created buzz about myself within a particular niche & have generated enough business to not have time to even out that body of work together 😅 I’m getting around to it now, but haven’t ever needed it. You’re spot on with all of the advice here imo. Earned subs & follows, great video.

Dude, definitely keep going with the longer-form videos. You’ve got a good perspective and are in a good niche for it. I’d say 80% of my internet free-time is watching KZitem videos. I don’t watch Netflix, don’t watch TikToks (and purposefully try to stay away from yt shorts) or anything else like that. So speaking as a professional KZitem viewer 😊 I can say that the longer videos are what I’m here for. It’s what I prefer. And I’m sure there are other people in your audience who feel the same. If I see two videos covering the same topic, one being 4 minutes, the other being 24 minutes, I’m almost always going to choose the longer one because I want to get deeper into it. And, you’re right, with your niche here, with many people coming here to learn various aspects of growing their personal brands, they’re probably generally looking for a larger amount of information than what can be provided in a video that’s just a few minutes long.
@renderer
Ай бұрын
I really appreciate that perspective. I was under the impression that shorter is always better but this video has gotten a lot of very positive feedback which has been eye opening. It's hard for me to record for a long time. This is the first vid Ive ever made with almost zero scripting. If it was easy to talk to a camera for 25 minutes without stuttering or losing my train of thought I totally would. I will gain confidence through repetition and work my way up 🫡
@alexg963
Ай бұрын
@@renderer absolutely, do what you gotta do. I didn’t think about that when writing that comment but you’re right that it’ll obviously take more work to do the longer videos and I’m sure takes some getting used to if you’re doing no cuts. And I also understand that from a video creator’s perspective it may be harder to justify putting that work into longer videos when you don’t know what the payoff or response to them will be, especially if you’re just starting out. But yeah, I certainly think you should play with the idea some more and see how it goes. Keep it up! 👍🏼

When I was a kid I liked fishing. when I started I could sit there for 3 to 4 hours with just my rod and a piece of bread with zero luck. Then one guy came over and told me to change my bate to specifically that one fish really likes and to go to that spot the day before and throw some of that bate in the water. The next day I sat there and all of a sudden I caught 3 fish. Was it luck? Yes, but if you know what you are doing and show the right thing to the right person, you can get that one client! This is what freelancing is all about.. (Still struugeling myself from time to time lol, especially with the come of AI). Thanks for your inspiring videos you share with the community! Gg!!!

I saw a guy making these super raw no cut just 25 mins of talking to the cam about business related stuff. I researched myself and found it was just your standard 1k course guru, however that form of content did insanely well and had me very interested before I did my research. Probably shouldn't be fully uncut but if you just sat and talked about anything for 25 mins I'm sure everyone would love that especially as you know the audience here is very loyal and more dedicated to watch long form content.
