Thanks for this method which will be useful for many. I'm unfortunately not agile enough to go underneath any more :(

Just had my local garage I've been using for 8/9 years ring me to say yeah the car needs to be fixed and parts taken to ford or something as bonnet won't open, it will be £470. So rang a friend of mine who fixed my cluster to solder a year ago and he said he will do it for me, said it costs around £30 for the part so I will send him that link as mine is a MK2 ford focus 2007. So basically the garage is trying to rip me off it seems...

Mine lasted 14 years but broke one morning with no warning and then of course you're really stuck if for example you need to charge the battery

Just had to watch my own video to fix another Broken Bonnet Lock LOL. I had the grill off quite quickly. This time the break was easier to fix as the cable was broken was at the Key-Lock End. This meant I could turn/twist the cable with a pair of grips and this open the bonnet/hood. Replace the old broken unit with the new unit takes about 15 minutes (2 bolts to undo)

Do you have to put a lock back in it.just thought mite be able to use flat head skew driver to open it
@RadialSailer1

@@jamiederham3874 you can leave it without the lock/ flexible cable and use a long screw driver in the + head of the bonet catch

Arnold Clarke UK quoted me £600 to do this job today. I declined . She said it was £149 for the part and the remainder was for 2 hours labour

Wow thats stiff I guess that's the official Ford spare part with markup and I guess you'll get to keep the same key. If you don't want to do your self try a smaller garage

@@HowToVideosAndTips I said to the lady on the phone that when he did the diagnosis he got the bonnet open by removing the 10mm bolts from underneath, they film it an email you it, she said ‘they have to strip it to do the job’ I says he’s already stripped it today and that cost only £58, now when you want to simply replace the old it’s gone up £400 plus the part (from Ford no doubt) I says guys on the internet do it fast she said ‘we don’t do the internet we have to do it properly’ I said it is done properly, I just said no thanks absolute scandal and hung up. I’ve got the parts my uncle is gonna do it today. I’m gonna email Arnold Clark for an explanation, they can’t possibly be on £200 per hour 🤯🤯🤯🤯 Got it fixed today for £20 and I paid £42 for both parts Amazon.

I always wonder if Ford are so confident of our loyalty to the brand they just don't quite bother with quality control. Mine is now 14 years old my most expensive repair was the dashboard electronics and now I have a leak in the power steering which I'm told is a nasty expensive job
