Awesome brothers, thanks for sharing, it has been very frustrating for me trying to pass the guard on higher belts that I'm rolling with like Purple Belts who are way more experienced than me and know how to lock me down but thanks to this I'm going to bring something different for them to challenge me on. Keep up the good work.

Great Video I usually do the flop then keep my foot flat and connected to the mat and then continue with the pass to side control. The issue with the way I do it is often time the guy on bottom can reestablish his lockdown and I have to do the flop over again make it easier to counter due to the repeated effort.

This wont work on a guy who knows all the moves in the rubber guard. when the hand is on the mat, afterwards he is supposed to double bag to prevent the left leg being passed. Even if the hand is not on the mat the rubber guard player does not leave the foot on the hip. The left leg is supposed to bite the back in which case this defense would not work. Also even if he passes this is much worse for you with a pro rubber guard player as he will go for the carni/gogo clinch EASILY or he can go to the overhook game. Sorry but this "defense" will get you killed. I love it when someone tries to pass my guard in new york as I wait for it to put that gogo clinch staight away and then its pretty much over from there.

It's a starting point, not the ultimate way to defeat every opponent (which does not exist). It's like saying the knee slide pass won't work cause the half guard player won't let you pin his knee to the mat.

Really like your instructionals Rob, always informative :) On a side note, when you did that Danaher leglock video I re-uploaded it private on my own channel so I could watch it anticipating you would have to take them down. You filed a claim against it, so just wanted to say sorry for posting your content without permission.

Harry Maynard. No worries, and I appreciate you saying that. I was extremely naive in misjudging the potential reaction to those videos, not to mention the fact that the info in them is incomplete for a variety of reasons. As such, it's better if I wait until I have my own leg lock system fully developed before putting any info out there.

Island Top Team will be looking out for it. But we have to remember that the DDS own the intellectual copyright for all leg locks.

You're not serious about DDS owning intellectual copyright on leglocks......are you? Forgive me if I'm not picking up what you're laying down there.

why would you upload it to your own channel, if you downloaded it you could just keep it on your PC and no one would even know so no copyright strikes would follow...

He will have to let go of the rubber guard leg first. Then you posture up and pull your arm with it. If you hesitate then yes, omoplata is a possibility

I love to see people who live and die with rubber guard. How many times have you seen elite caliber jujitsu practitioners in Abu Dhabi or worlds playing rubber guard or the lockdown? Or even what it was initially created for MMA. I haven't seen anyone in the last five years in the UFC use these technics
@gregpavlik6474

Tonnon uses lockdown all the time, Deblass uses a form, etc. Geo Martinez, jeff Glover, Nathan Orchard, all use some form of rubber guard from time to time. Silva used lockdown in UFC recently. Ben Saunders used rubber guard. Come on - I don't really do much of either, but these can be very effective techniques done right and some high level guys play them at a high level. Done poorly they aren't terribly effective, but that goes for just about anything. Agree with commentors, most people don't play rubber guard that way: guys that are going to go there will likely double bag, which is a harder problem to deal with and what you are likely to find in a tournament (at least blue belt level and up).

The thing is... the really elite BJJ guys in MMA rarely stay at the bottom position for long. They sweep immediately or slap on a submission quickly.

These look like such rookie passes. I bet Eddie would be able to explain why these are bullshit. I do the lockdown every day in class. It's not that simple to pass lol. If you're good at the lockdown, they won't be able to just flop their leg out like that.

in truth, all guards rarely work in MMA as far as current knowledge goes. You have to both protect yourself which is hard enough from the bottom AND prevent the other person from simply getting up and letting the ref stand you up.

@Aryan Toon Based on your reply you are the one who needs to grow up though I doubt it will help with your low IQ. And yes 10th Planet does suck, especially for MMA.
