This was the first time that I tried that trick, I was really surprised at the difference that it made.

This can be a tricky process especially if you’re counter sinking and need to cut the holes separately like you did. Solid tips! Sometimes you gotta do a little extra work to make sure your project ends up how you hoped.

Exactly, I screwed up a baffle on a project this summer. I figured if I was screwing it up other people were too.

You do great videos in New to all this but I just bought a router table, circle gigs, I'm wanting to make a stacked port so these videos are very helpful

3:30 there is a way you can add some scrap wood to the F style clamps that basically turn it into a deeper capacity clamp.

0:58 Now scale that up to a full marty sized double baffle. That was fun with no tools whatsoever. I just sat a lot of weight on it (Including myself) and made sure it was lined up correctly. That was a fun 15-30 minutes before I felt confident it wouldn't move anymore. If I had clamps I would have clamped the edges like you show at 3:20. Would have made my life easier haha.

When you don't have tools you have to find a way to make it work! Did you use table salt? This was the first time I tried the table salt trick and it made a huge difference.

Just recently found your channel and I must say it’s all I’ve been watching lately. It’s been such a helpful guide for me. I’ve been into audio for a while but have only recently started exploring the technical aspects of enclosure design and construction. Awesome channel! I’m currently working on something basically like your Bluetooth boombox except using a dual folded horn incorporated into the “wings” of the enclosure. Would love to hear if you have any thoughts on such a design. Prosit from Texas! 🍻

Good stuff man. I just did 2 similar videos, with a little bit of a different method. I'm definitely not where I need to be in the editing department. Hopefully one day.

I use 2 dowel pins or screws in pre-drilled holes to locate pieces. Because my salt container always ends up in the kitchen 😂

I'm going to align and clamp the baffles while dry, drill pilot holes in both baffles at the same time , then unclamp/apply glue/realign baffles and put screws through the pilot holes I drilled so they stay aligned while glue dries

When is having a double baffle a necessity?
@DIYAudioGuy

I do it because I like the recessed look. I'm not aware of a solid rule of thumb.

Just use gorilla glue. It sticks after only 2-3 minutes. Then when the glues is more sticky then clamp them together

Difference in size of outer hole and inner hole?????????
@DIYAudioGuy

That will depend on the speaker.

You are the only video that shows..research and threads say conflicting..some say bottom bigger top to spec..and some say inner to spec and outer bigger for flush.i just built my box tuned to 32hz out of 3/4 mdf for a single 12inch svx skar sub. 53lbs..so i want to add another baffle for strength but i do not want to lose any air space etc..best to leave as single?any help would be appreciated as to many conflicting ways to do it😵😵😵
@DIYAudioGuy

@@ronnydisalvo80 I like to make the actual speaker cut out as close as possible. I typically make the recessed cutout a little bigger than the overall outside diameter so I have room for carpet. If you want strength consider just doubling up on the baffle and not recessing the speaker -- or triple up on the baffle.

K.so just built custom sub box..guess what im gonna cut my 1st baffle 1/8 bigger before i mount my top or 2nd baffle and cut to 11.88 as per my 12inch subs😶😶😶
@DIYAudioGuy

The sub spec sheet should give the overall outside diameter. I always cut a test piece in scrap material just to make sure.

To stop the panels sliding on each other drop a pinch of salt over the glued surface ;) stops the wood sliding like a boss ;)
