With those razor blade since they are double edged, I use medical tape (but duct tape etc would do) and I tape over the one edge so I don't accidentally cut myself and don't have to fear the edge facing my hand. Thanks for the video. Very informative!i received a weird monstera from a friend that has no leaves for the most part, only way atthe top it has like 15 or so. Is there a way to allow more leaves to grow on the stem? From the bottom to top? Now it just has a crown of leaves. Or is it best to make new cuttings and regrow the plant?
@TechplantChannel
Жыл бұрын
hard to get get growth to start down the stem but you can make like half cuts sometimes to trigger growth along the bald parts. I would just cut the top and root it, then do a bunch of leafless node cuttings and root those too, the base of the plant will also put out a new growth once you chop it
@JBKNL

Oh my gosh, this was amazing. I have an Albo Monstera that I decided to prop and this was very helpful. Decided to go with your water method, but a friend mentioned that I should watch for stem rot...in just one day the ends of the stem where I cut it (with a razor blade) are turning color a bit. Have you ever had trouble with stem rot with water propagation? Also...do you just use tap water or filtered or distilled when you do water propagation?

Very nice video! is it better to keep the cuttings in shadow or is it okay also in direct sunlight? I've got a huge window where I keep all of my plants and it's situated South, so from the morning till the evening it has light (but the sun is higher then my house so it never reaches directly the plants). Now I've places the cuttings in the kitchen that is situated North, so there always is no direct sunlight (there is shadow) because the light comes, again, from windows situated North.

Is it possible to keep it living with only water and no soil or moss?
@TechplantChannel
Жыл бұрын
ive seen people do it. some of the keys to this is as te plant gets bigger i think youll need a larger container with plenty of surface area so oxygen can dissolve back into the water for the roots. i think most people fail because soon the roots need more oxygen than the water can support. also youll have to dose fertilizer once in a while. But ppl have done it for over a year from what ive seen. good luck!

Good luck! I just cut mine recently, maybe a month ago, and baby has roots and momma is growing so seemingly idiot proof.

This is literally what I was looking for. I’ve been having such a hard time cutting my mother plant because I was afraid there would be no new growth on it. All the other you’ve videos teach you how to propagate it but not what happens after you make the cut. Thanks for posting this. Subscribed

Your guides are simply the best, so many plant youtubers making guides on a day and you actually take the time to film the whole LONG process, that’s dedication. Do you have Instagram?

Yeah, there's nothing worse than someone giving growing and propagation advice like that. And usually you find out they've only had the plant for a few months and have somehow already become an expert 🤦

I absolutely agree with you about the time. I personally don’t use any other social media platforms, just KZitem at all. I’m content with YT.

Yes!! I recently devastated a coworker by not warning him I was going to give our office's split leaf philodendron an extreme haircut, and I told him don't worry, it will grow back...! But I wasn't very sure about it lol... This made me feel much better.

@@TechplantChannel Does this cutting style work also with Monstera Variegata Albo? I am so scared to cut if because it was very expensive, but it has only one super long line and I want to make it bushier

Coming back after a month to say that I did the propagation in the water bottle method and the roots are absolutely massive. Thanks so much for a great tutorial 🙂

Are we need to add some kind of fertilisers in water? Or just water!

@@E.P.7131 I’ve done it a few times since I’ve left the comment. I get crazy roots now in just three weeks. I live in Zone 10 and propagate them outdoors.
