why not to add a horizontal rail? It will leave burn marks on the edges having to stop the cut

Are there any limitations vertically or horizonally as far as how small of a strip of wood can be cut off any sheet of plywood or how small a piece of plywood can be to begin with?

As a Home Depot associate certified to use a vertical panel saw and a radial arm saw, I can affirm that the smallest recommended size for a wood sheet prior to cutting is 12" by 24". This is a great tool that gets its share of use since many customers are barely unable to fit a full 4x8 plywood sheet into their vehicles.

Thank you, one additional question, if a customer of yours had a 4 x 8 sheet and wanted trimmed from 48" to 40" then cross cut the 96" side to 88". Is that possible? Is there a problem cutting up a strip of say 4"?

The machine can cut both horizontally and vertically. Cutting a 4" strip would be no problem.

Thank, I figured as much I was told that cutting any strip vertically or horizontally would present a safety hazard. I couldn't believe that hence the question. Thanks for the responces!

The saw blade is well protected within the motor carriage and you will never accidentally cut yourself. Please let me know if you would like to talk with someone from our Minnesota factory on the built in safety mechanisms within our machines!

Safety Speed Manufacturing thank you for your reply, haven’t actually decided if this is what I will end up with but when I’m ready I will definitely check it out

Much, MUCH safer. Far easier to handle a panel by yourself as well.
