Thanks for another great video and happy new year to you also. Is everything ok? I just thought that you are speaking a bit differently compared to your other videos.

Ola meu irmão Aj. Excelente informação, uma coisa que eu descobri logo desde o principio é que os Abacates desenvolvem muito mais rápido se forem atados a um suporte para o vento não abanar com as raízes. Um grande abraço!

My most wind hardy trees are avocado, but I live somewhere with fairly regular gale force winds so as you say - facing the wind their root structure has grown as a result and they’re now pretty much bullet proof. Even my initial windbreaks broke around the trees so I just left them. We do lose fruit though unfortunately

I deal with wind on a daily basis. Like clock work, about 10am everyday I get a breeze that usually last until the sun goes down. That is usually a nice light breeze. What we just had blow through in Southern California was from a cold front. Those winds were way stronger than the normal sea breeze. I was raking and blowing leaves, twigs, branches, and palm frawns off the side walk and yard. I use the green nursery tape on all my trees. I tie them very loosely and keep adjusting as the trees grow. I also find that the smaller the tree, the less it needs the stake as it grows and establishes stronger roots. What's kind of funny in my yard, all my trees have a slight tilt/bend to them because of the daily breeze. Thanks for sharing the videos and information.

We live on a property that is a direct hit for big west winds that come up with cold fronts from Cape Town, to the extent that is has shaped my grafted avocado tree, and yes we lost a lot of fruit (which I did not mind because it was it's first year fruiting and it needed to be bigger to hold more fruit). I have built small windbreaks using shade cloth and longer term have purchased Casuarina trees as wind breaks (to be planted immediately outside the property - but set back to prevent loss of growing area in my own garden).

I will have to look up the Casuarina tree. Thanks for the info.

What causes the graft to shrivel up and die after bursting through the graft tape

Ha Ha Ha. Yes we in Queensland are like your Florida people. In a area with Cyclones ( Hurricanes ) that was only a gentle breeze. LOL Happy new year to you too

LOL I thought of Florida folks as I saw the wind and I realized it's all relative. Happy growing, be safe.

When hammering in the stake how do you know you won't break any roots?
@AJTheGraftMan

You'll likely break some roots, but it shouldn't damage the tree overall
