Brendan. I gotta say thank you brother. Badly herniated my L5-S1 last year. Experienced both extremes of rushing back to BJJ and doing absolutely nothing out of fear. Been adapting your teachings and the stuff you share here into my program and today did 10 full ROM Jefferson curls totally pain free. Totally unthinkable a year ago when I was wanting to blow my brains out every time I sneezed. Hoping to be back on the mats later this year. Thanks to you. ❤ For anyone reading this in the dark depths of low back pain - commit to slow progress. It’ll happen faster than you think, but only if you’re patient. Hit those back extension iso holds. Stretch that posterior chain, gently and consistently. Marathon NOT sprint.

@@Stoyanov06start with isometric holds assisted and once you make sure it doesn’t aggravate your pain more the next day progress to 30 second unassisted hold, and you train u assisted holds to at least 2 minutes without aggravating your pain and thats when you start mixing in actual extension reps. Remember take the slow and steady route, and make sure you wait till the next day to see if the exercise is too hard and made your pain worse.

Hey man, you are my inspiration to embark on the journey of my recovery. Unfortunately I didn't give my back the attention it needed for years and when I was diagnosed with a protrusion, due to my ignorance, I continued to put stress on my back at work and ended up with a herniated disk (I used to bend my back a lot), I just started to focus on my recovery, but I'm afraid that bending my back is the cause of my disk degeneration and I will never be able to do the same…

Luv' this. I've started to incorporate these exercises into my weekly exercise sessions. I had abit of an herniated disc in lower lumber area, but still getting radiated nerve pain down bit of thigh and calf area of right leg. Not sure if I'm overdoing it tbh. 🙏👍 Still very tight right glutes occasionally too.
