For your safety always secure car with triangle stand under chassis next to jack, never trust jack itself, I couldn't see one on video, maybe it was there somewhere, stay safe, thx for video.

Thank you very much for the video! I watched 3 times and ordered CV Axle and 36mm nut socket for my ML350. I am ready to replace the axle by following your video.

I have a GL 550 that needs the rear cv axle changed. Do you have video for that? I'm stuck with removal techniques after removing the 36mm nut.

Which brand of aftermarket axle shaft did you buy and how long are you hoping it will last? The cheap ones tend to fail at less than 10,000 miles in my experience and the Mercedes original is over $900. Good video nonetheless. Hope your new axle shaft lasts. I plan to repack mine with grease if the joint is in good shape as I still have the Benz original but the boot has a small tear (lots of grease still inside).

It is API product. Their review is pretty decent. I will see how long this will last especially I'm about to go off-roading with it. 😆

Good Job, i have one question. Is it the same work in both sides, or is it at the Driver site more difficult? Greetings

Got a 2012 gl450 for costomer its esier to replace it than finding torque specs on that axel nut in usa.
@brarautorepairs

It is 380 nm. Alternatively you can torque is to 180 lbs and go ahead 90 degrees. I couldn't get it to the torque spec because my full body weight isn't enough so you just have to get it tight as possible. Drive it through a few figure Ss in a parking lot, loosen the nut and retorque it. Ask the customer to come back a week later to check because it can still back off unless you get it super tight. Applying some grease or motor oil will lower the amount of torque required.

After the repair did you have any fluid leak from the transmission. I did the same repair and now I have fluid coming out.

My car needs to replace a drivers cv axle, car shop is asking for 1000$ total price part and job. Should I keep searching for other place to get it fixed ?

Nice video, very good insight about the job. So how is it holding up so far after a year later? Any issues with the aftermarket axle? Also I have a question about how you seated the outer part to the hub? Did it require any pressing or hammering? I highly doubt that you hammered a new axle but did not see that part in the video. I can see you pushed it hard to get in to the differential but not to the wheel hub.

I have a ML350 2009 . When i turn the steering wheel all the way to right and move forward i feel vibration . And on high speeds also feel the vibration on gas padel. but less than when the steering wheel turned. Can it be the CV joint ?? All the wheel bearings are good .
@brarautorepairs

Vibration can come from the tire, wheel, CV axle, and front transaxle. First step would be to check if you have any play in the front CV axles (up and down). Mercedes is the first car I've experienced vibration from a bad CV axle but it didn't have much play or clicked when turned. Also the front differential needs to be filled with new oil after replacing the CV axle. I noticed in the video that nothing came out of the axle housing which may indicate a low level
