Ok here I am again, it was the water pump bearing making the rattling & grinding sort of noise. I replaced the same and now the engine runs nice and smooth, without a whimper from the drive belt area, 👍 🙏 Well the job went off well with your guided video, but one thing I learnt is that you don’t have to really struggle taking that Alternator out as when you loosen the the top bolt about 1/16” out give it a slight tap on the head to move the nut about one mm away from the bracket the nut actually slides into the right housing of the nut in bracket and it’s got a V shape locking arrangement so it won’t rotate. Loosen the bottom bolt a bit and now remove the top bolt & bottom bolt & the Alternator would just slide out without a problem or having to lever it out. Even when putting the alternator back it’s very easy just slides into the bracket and when you tighten up the nut snugs it’s self up nice & firm and off course the bottom bolt comes off and goes back without any hassles once the top bolt is on. Well I ‘m happy it went off well. I got the water pump for about CA$74/- & coolant 50/50 for $25/- plus taxes. I wanted to share my finding about easy removal & fitting back of the Alternator for you guys who want to DIY Thanks A1 Guy once again & all the best

Very good and descriptive video showing a step by step procedure with the precautions to keep in mind . I have a rattling sound on my 2015 RAV 4 since of late could it be my water pump bearing. I put a large screw driver between the pulley and housing and wiggled it and the pulley actually shakes a bit, so it could be the bearings are worn out, shall appreciate a reply, why no RTV or grease on the gasket will it seal well dry Thanks for your time guy and all the best to you

Great video. 2 comments. The thermostat is under the alternator. I always change it with a new water pump. Also, on the right (other side) of the motor is the coolant temp sensor. It’s a $14 ish part. I change that too.

Great vid, i guess that if it has not been done in a while, this is a good time to replace the thermostat while all these parts are removed.

Skip all this bs, Support engine under with block of wood and floor jack, remove right side engine mount, remove tensioner, replace pump re install tensioner and mount done. 1hr if your a good mechanic 2 hrs maybe if you don't always work on cars. Torque bolts to specs very little 78 inch pounds about 8ftlbs, don't clean block with any chemical cleaner will damage gasket per manufacture

Thanks for sharing! If a water pump gets stuck, it normally causes overheat to engine. Is it possible for the coolant to burst out or leak? Where will it leak or burst out? Thank you.

Have a question. Is there a trick to getting the alternator back on? I took mine off while replacing my water pump but for the life of me can’t get it aligned on the top bolt. I was able to get the top bolt aligned enough to get half way be can’t get it to align properly to thread to the other side . Do you have any suggestions? Any would be appreciated.

Slotted brake rotors on backwards, as usual. The slots act like a water pump impeller to draw air and debris from the center and throw it out of the rotor. Nobody reads the stamps on them that says "passenger side" and "driver side."

Is it just me, or is the rotor on backwards, it looks like it’s a driver side slotted and drilled rotor.

Slotted disc brakes on an old Rav 4? Someone is putting a lot of money into an old car!

Corkfish1 Not really. I put a set on my 2011 RAV4 Limited V6 for $180.00 2 years ago. They work ok but tend to be noisier than un drilled and slotted brakes. If I had yo do it all over again I would skip the drilled and slotted rotors, too noisy.

You can get a full front kit from stop tech for $200.00 pads and rotors , I understand why. The stock pads could definitely use a little more bite it you do a lot of highway driving
