My initial problem was that the red stand-by light seemed to have died one day and I couldn't turn on the TV. I found out if I unplugged the TV, waited a few minutes and then plugged it back in again, the stand-by light would reappear and I could then turn it on. However, after plugging in the TV there was a window of a few seconds (10 - 15), after which, if I had not clicked the remote to turn on the TV, the stand-by light would die, I could not turn it on anymore and I had to restart the process. I used this trick daily for months (about half a year) until one day it finally died for good, as restarting it wouldn't work anymore. The warranty had just about expired when the issues started (and I found the restarting trick), and I looked up official repair partners and they had bad reviews online such as being expensive and taking months to repair.
After investigating a bit my intuition told me it was most likely the PSU and I decided to replace it. It's been working perfectly ever since.
