Most people don't adjust their bikes to themselves. Spend the time to adjust your clip on's and levers to take pressure off your wrists, Get adjustable foot control so if your smaller or larger you can adjust to a more ergonomic position. Spend the money to get the suspension set up to your weight and riding style as well.

@@ralphwarom2514 Well I'd disagree. You buy a bike because you like it in my book. I've just done 2500 mikes on a ZX9R around Europe. I could have got back on it & done another 2.5k no problems ! I've added lower footpegs, Helibars & the seat is slightly higher with a gel insert - gives me a little more leg room (6'2" 58yrs). Ironically, when we pull up for a break no one looks at the multis, ktms or the BMW. It's always my old ninja 👌. Funnily enough I'm seriously thinking about a gsxr750 k5/6 as my next bike.

@66jdrod66

I did too at the begging. I knew that was not supposed to be that way. If you have a sports bike, you have to go against the grain so to speak. Your forced to lean forward so to counteract it, you have to squeeze you legs and knees into the bike, tank. That will free up your upper body and arms. Seems like a lot of work, but it will become muscle memory after a while. You need tank grips or you will just slide around back and forth. As far a passenger, I never had one on the back. Would seem to me to be so much more work to ride safely. Well hope this helps

Sounds like your too tense. Relax, keep your top half of your body loose. Grip the bike with your legs - less weight on your arms. Adjust pegs, seat & clipons. Interestingly, I sit over the tank - closer to the bars seems to work better for me.

Do you have tank grips? It’s mostly your knees that you grip the tank with. I think it near impossible to do on a shiny fuel tank without the grip pads. www.revzilla.com/motorcycle-tank-protectors I recommend TechSpec brand. Don’t go cheap you’ll regret it. Let me know how you get along.

And here is another source that says the same thing. www.eazi-grip.com/do-i-need-motorcycle-tank-grips/#:~:text=Motorcycle%20Tank%20Grips%2C%20or%20Stickers,won't%20ride%20without%20them. “What do Tank Grips do? Our Tank Grips are designed to reduce pressure on your shoulders and wrists whilst riding by creating more contact points between yourself and your bike. Without Tank Grips it takes a surprisingly amount of work to keep planted to your bike, as you have to grip harder with your knees and assist with your arms and shoulders. With our Tank Grips, they take the pressure off your body so you don’t have to fight to stay in position and therefore make riding your bike even more enjoyable.”

If your bike doesn’t already have them, get some tank grips, custom size for your motorcycle. Get a brand name like TechSpec. Cheap ones only cause pain and destroy pants. Sit away from the tank ( slide back), then you have to squeeze the tank grips with your knees as you ride, it will hold you away from the tank. Seems like a lot of work at first, then it becomes muscle memory. The good thing is your knees will be in a better position to help lean the bike over in turns.
