How do I check if the defrost system is good and condensation drain is not "plugged"...???? But if the drain is plugged, why is that happening???? Is there another video for that or is this video only about getting you to buy another part?

I know you guys are selling parts but to be totally transparent you're better off to run this fridge without the cover. the airflow restrictions is the main culprit why these refrigerators ice up in the drain/foam assembly layout.

@@pearlrival3124my RF261BEAEBC has had enough service calls to replace different bits to pay for a standalone freezer/fridge at Costco. This thing has been a pain since 2 months of owning it. It was regulated to garage fridge duty and worked better out there (no more replaced parts) for 4 years. Now it constantly ices up the rear panel, which appears to cost about $250. Sunk cost fallacy, I won't be replacing anything else if the new temp sensor doesn't fix it.

I just took off this panel and noticed that there was major ice buildup. Fan had a block of ice created on it, foam in the whole panel had frozen and broke off and there was a huge frozen block above the coils. Took about 2 hours with a hair blower to get the ice cleared. Was thinking about purchasing a new evaporator cover because most of the foam around the original broke off, but reading the comments, even if I were to buy a new cover panel, issue will still remain. Thank you comments (I already purchased a main control board because I was advised that it’s usually the culprit, ended paying $200 for a part that wasn’t broken).

You can try and stick a pair pliers underneath the screw's head try and drill the screw out while holding the pliers in place to help keep the screw from turning on its own while trying to remove it and see if that may help you.

The only moving part in that whole assembly is a cheap 80mm fan. It’s too bad I can’t find just the fan. My Samsung freezes uo back there about once a year. I’ve had it serviced, that panel replaced, main board changed and it still does it. 😡

If the cover is damaged, or if the evaporator fan motor needs to be replaced and it's not sold separately from the cover, would be the reasons you would need to replace that part.

can i ice build up in fridge be solve by installing new Evaporator Cover Assembly? Thank you
@guillermone1

That is exactly what they want you to do, buy parts. Selling parts is their business. I changed the evaporator panel about 14 months ago, and the problem was temporarily resolved but only until last month, December 2022 and the same thing happened again. Therefore, the issue is not the panel but rather something else. Whatever it may be, it is a factory defect, as the only and best explanation, in other words there is no cure. I had a factory authorized technician come in to perform the repair. I want to fix it again and sell it to someone else but don't have the conscious to pass the problem on to someone else, but I also hate to just throw it away. I am in a bind.
@fuguf1sh

No. It will still ice up. I’ve had mine serviced 5 times and a bunch of parts replaced and it still does it. The big problem is that the ice block grows to a point that it stops that fan. When that happens your food is gone. I pop that panel and defrost the evap lines about once a year.
@guillermone1
Жыл бұрын
@@fuguf1sh -Yeah, that would be the way to go. Once a year pop it open and defrost it as the only way to handle it. I will consider or look at it as if a "minor" nuisance. I do want to make one suggestion. I notice that keeping the fridge temperature at 36 or above 36 degrees Fahrenheit helps reduces the ice buildup. I used to keep it a lower temperatures and notice that by raising it as much as possible helped decrease the severity of the problem.

I literally had the entire assembly replaced 3 times in 4 years. The last time was in March, and they added some coil to keep the heater heating so it “doesn’t frost up again” I had to remove the back panel in June to use a hair dryer and thaw the massive chunk of ice. Do yourself a favor and get a new refrigerator. Samsung refrigerators are crap.

It sounds as if the screw may have gotten stripped. What is the model number of your fridge?
@bobcooper6967
7 ай бұрын
@appliancepartspros the screw was not stripped. It was corroded inside the plastic part that allows the screw to get tight. That corrosion welded the two pieces together. Finally got the panel loose whenever the plastic piece tore loose from the back panel. Left a hole but filled it in. Stainless screws would have been a better choice.

Normally we also do advise to let the fridge be for at least 24 hours to 48 hours so it can get down to the proper temperature before we see if there is anything else that could be going on with it.

Funny, there is really nothing that can be done from a consumer's standpoint to fix this issue. Either have to higher a tech or replace the manufacturer's defaulted fridge. Ive had to defrost and remove the panel to unfreeze the fan and water line 4 or more times since being in my home since 2020. I saw another video on YT that suggested replacing the metal drain clamp with a longer one so it wouldnt freeze. I purchased the recommended puece off Amazon and replaced that several months ago and today, here I am defrosting the fan and coils again, and even melting ice in the water drain line. I keep my fridge on 39 and freezer on 0 to -1 but i guess those settings are too cold for the fridge.

In order to get more heat into the drain-hole, wrapped two roughly 6" #16 solid copper wires around the heater element (with the power off) and fed the copper down into the drain hole. After a year, upon opening (to fix a different problem) the wires were discoloured, indicating that they were indeed conducting heat down the drain hole.
