Since I talk about the wild fires in Washington it is important to know that I was there on July 28th 2021. I kept hearing more and more about the fires as I went west. To this point, this was as close as I'd been and the thickest smoke I saw.

This is my favorite NP. I spent a week in colonial creek campground on Diablo Lake and it was the hands down best campsite I’ve ever had in decades of camping. As you cross the balance bridge heading toward thunder knob I was there on the left surrounded on 3 sides by rushing water. Amazing.

That does sound amazing! I hope to do more backpacking there soon. Hearing about that campsite makes me want to look up permits for the summer and get out there again!!

3:58 that is beautiful. Surprised you are still able to get that color of the river with fires around you. Hello fellow Ohioan. Thank goodness we don't have forest fires. I would panic. It crazy, when I went to Great Smoky Mountains and Yellowstone, nearly everyone I met was from Ohio. Paint on the van. Did that come off?

I had the same experience with meeting people from Ohio at Yellowstone and Rocky Mountain then at Glacier and Arches I met multiple groups from Michigan. It was fun to notice the difference! The paint came off! I was able to wash it off of the white paint right there, then it wore off of the black plastic as I drove. Still shaking my head on not paying closer attention on that one 😅
