So I wish you would show step by step what goes in the basket. So I know The first basket we put down in the canister is layered with the black and then on top with the white white floss. What's the next layer in the basket and so on and so on? That's what I need to know.

That's a good point. But here is the order. 1. Mechanical media 2. Dual purpose media 3. Biological media 4. Chemical on top if you have any purigen and stuff like that

I have a 1500 Penn flex canister. I do have a red ear turtle. How do you layer your canister? Do you use charcoal in your canister? I know the first layer that goes in the basket first would be the black bio foam and then the floss foam on top of that but I'm lost with the other baskets. Could you help me?.

Already have one and everything connected. But hadn't been used in a while, no instruction book. Do I add water to the filter before putting tubes into tank? Or does it suck the water from the tank even when first installed? When you say prime the filter what does that mean?? How do I prime the filter? I've watched other videos and they all say the same thing in the video but no explanation. Please could really some clarity. Thank you for your time it's much appreciated.
@fishoutwithjuno

Yes you add water before priming. When I said prime the water means put water in the filter, then there's a button on top. You keep pushing like a pump. Till that pressure starts pull water down from the tank.

Hello, thanks for the video. Do you believe this filtrer would be ok for a 120 gallon tank ? I am seing a lot of people using it for 75 gal tanks. At this step i don't know if i should go for this cascade 1500 or more for a sunsun HW 304b that seems to offer more Gph ? Any insights ?

Purchased a Penplax 1200 canister filter from Amazon. What a nightmare. Their video on "KZitem" makes it look so simple. I did everything it said but the primer button isn't powerful enough and never once pushed the water in the correct direction. It was trying to send the water back into the aquarium. In the end I filled the canister by hand and had to suck the intake tube by mouth to get the flow going. It took me 2 hours to get it all working. It worked well for two days before stopping. I had to start from scratch to get it going again. I used the turn nozzles to prevent water seeping out and thinking there was a water supply problem I opened it up to find the canister was actually full. I eventually had to suck the water through the intake tube yet again to get it started. The filter does work well when it works but is a lot of trouble and thanks be to the Lord that I work from home and I'm able to keep on eye on things. Our carpets are ruined from the spilled water. I never want to hear the name Penplax ever again. I am an experience aquarist and have used canister filters in the past but I'm afraid this model is GARBAGE!

Yikes. I am so sorry that happened to you. I had to admit that the water pumping takes a while to do especially since I started bu pumping it while the outtake is in water. But once I pulled the outtake out of the water it became a whole lot easier. I am so sorry that your filter didn't work as you expected it. It might be a broken one. Try to see if they can have it replaced. This same filter is still working for me no problem as of this day.

@@fishoutwithjuno Thanks....it seemed a very simple set up but wasn't and since I had problems and I checked more reviews and the primer has the same issue for many of us. A good value filter, if it was an easy set up but balanced against having to replace the dinning room carpet makes it an expensive purchase.

Yes its below the tank. Also this is being used for my snapping turtles tank. So the outlet is above the water. Water is pumped in and drips back into the aquarium every 5 seconds or so. But its not a constant flow.
