New Kamado Joe owners frequently ask me what they should smoke first on their new grill. My favorite suggestion is a Boston Butt. Butts are super easy to smoke, especially for a beginner, if you follow a very simple procedure that I have outlined step-by-step in this video.
This video outlines the KISS method for making a perfect smoked Boston Butt with no hassles involved. Cooking at 300°F allows you to take the worrisome time factor out of this cook while still producing world-class pulled pork barbecue. 300°F is MY go-to cooking temperautre any time I cook one of these. I personally do not find any added benefit of drawing out the cook for a longer time at a lower temperature.
