question it's a Kyosho kit and you used Kyosho decals then you plastered the rest of the build with Tamiya decals,WHY?

I know some might think it’s sacrilege but there are all these typical Kyosho builds and hence my reaction was to see if I could build something better using Tamiya parts. I am a Tamiya fanboy and have upmost respect for Kyosho. So I chose carefully all the additional Tamiya parts that would make the buggy better. In my eyes anyway. It’s sharing my personal take on an already great / iconic Kyosho Javelin. Everyone else is welcome to comment & leave their views. 😊

Only flaw about the Kyosho Javelin was the weak chain drive system. Back then, we had to keep replacing them as they stretch over time. thats why they went with the belt system with their other cars.

It’s good to hear someone share their experiences from those golden years of RC. But I would imagine that it would still have been fantastic to own a Javelin during that time. Thank you. 🙂

Chains rarely stretch…. But they do wear. If each link wears 1/1000”, and with 100 links, that’s .1” wear. Cumulative wear is a big deal…

Also think it's because of fitting 2.1inch tyres on 2.2inch rims. So the sidewalls are already compressed.

Also, I love the build but what was wrong with the kit damper set????
@t-studioworks
9 ай бұрын
Nothing wrong with the kit damper. The Tamiya ones are a bit more purposeful like the Kyosho Gold shocks so I thought it would a good upgrade. The silver beefier shocks goes so much more nicer with the white roll cage than the smaller red original shocks. That’s my humble opinion. 😬

Thanks. Thought these white Egress / Vanquish rims would look nice on the Javelin.

@t-studioworks LOL just jokes. I'm not a Tamiya Fan I have to admit. I have a lot of old RC10, yokomo dogfighters but I do have some Kyosho stuff, such as an original Optima mid a ZX laser, ZX5 and an Ultima pro. Keep up the good work. I like your passion. Yea sorry man Tamiya is a badly designed toy in my opinion.

It’s not the most efficient (until the later trf stuff) but we luv it with all its idiosyncrasies. Maybe it’s just the nostalgia of it all. 😊

Nyloc nut the top shock mounts, those serated nuts will ruin your shock caps
@t-studioworks
Жыл бұрын
The serated nuts are standard from Tamiya VQS dampers. It’s hard to see as there isn’t a clear gap but the serated nut sits on the ball joint that is inserted into the top cap. That’s how the top of the shock is able to pivot freely. So no scratching either.
