Hey coach, I just had a question for the sake of being able to articulate FYJJ, if you were working on guard passing in class on the day, would you set up your FYJJ exercise to be where the top player floats and gently thwarts the bottom player, or where the bottom player tries to thwart the top player’s passing? Also, how would you construct a FYJJ game to practice guard recovery from side control? I was thinking something along the lines of the top player can only move on top, but he can’t grip in order to consolidate position, and the bottom player can do whatever they want to try and recover their guard. If you could offer some clarification, I would greatly appreciate it. I’m very interested in coaching methodology, and I have personally always leaned into gamefying my drilling because I am ADD and I get bored with static drilling. Thanks!

All my info about fighting was from the few scraps I was in and more from the tons of scraps I saw, including multiple opponents (basically gang fights, 1 guy downed being kicked by about 15 people) and improvised weapons (beer bottle smashed in a dude’s face, another guy’s face smashed against a car window).
