That part about if we don't come up out of autopilot, we won't be able to create lasting change. That punched me in the gut. I'm an anxiety patient, and I'm in counseling for it. I fall into those ruts where that autopilot mode keeps me from doing anything that brings me joy or satisfaction. My autopilot mode is toxic and fosters fear and sadness while pushing away any type of calm or happiness. However, this conversation reminded me of a lot of the work I've been doing in my counselor's office, and I caught two things about myself that I'll need to work on. The first is understanding that I need to trust that which helps me, not what hurts me. The second is understanding that not every moment requires panic. Thank you for this conversation and I hope you both are having a great Monday.

This is really interesting... I do this regularly, I did not realize there was a name for it. I just thought it was part of who I am. I am happily single and an introvert, so I enjoy my time alone. I am often alone with my thoughts and it may sound strange, but observing my thoughts and considering them from different angles is something I enjoy doing. Of course the tendency to be triggered is when I am out around other people. I'm not sure what's going on lately though because situations that used to trigger me have come up and I did not react 🤔 To me, even if I didn't say anything, if my heart rate goes up, that's a reaction. Honestly, even I was amazed by my non- reaction. I just thought to myself I don't have to react to this and I just went on with what I was doing or continued the conversation. I am not a super religious person, but I have to say that I almost felt like I was being guided. I mean how could I struggle with these things my whole life and then suddenly I am feeling very non-reactive about things... It's almost creepy like...who is this person? 😄

This is just a partial answer but behind a trigger there often an urge subtle or strong to change something about something ... F.A.S.T. There is also often stickiness in the form of an obsession that needs to be resolved I order to get relieved. Intuition tend to have a more nourishing and grounded quality to them. They are both from inside but they don't come from the same spot. One is more defense-based and the other does not have that contracted quality. Not overly scientific but those are some of the ways I perceive their difference

Could you do a video on counter transference? I've looked for information but I couldn't find much just a basic overview of what it is. I don't let many people close because of a violent upbringing and parent ification as my dad died when I was young and my mom was sick and older as well. I took care of her until she died in my early to mid 30s. I don't know how to ask people for help or to not constantly be doing something. I didn't even know their was a term for this until I saw it on a website earlier today.

The Holistic Psychologist This is great information. I know we all have thoughts. Can we bury our thoughts or ignore them to the point that we think we don’t have thoughts? How can we see thoughts that we don’t know we are even having?
@sallykalan4026

April Lynn I don’t believe we can bury thoughts the ones we disown quite often end up controlling our life ! Look at your physical world that will show you your beliefs and thoughts < your physical world doesn’t lie ! Meaning it’s a mirror to your thoughts and beliefs conscious or not ! We have thoughts we are not our thoughts ! Its important to be aware of subconscious programming ❤️
@peacejoy8454
4 жыл бұрын
sally kalan Yes, thank you! I agree and I have read & studied subconscious programming. When I look at my physical world, I do see areas that I need to work on. It still doesn’t help me as far as watching my thoughts and becoming aware of the negative thoughts in my mind. I can assume I have disempowering thoughts based on my outer world. I meditate and journal everyday. I have written down areas in my physical world that that have been challenging to get an idea of the thoughts I have on my head. Maybe you can’t bury your thoughts, but based on this video it sounds like you can resist your thoughts. I have a feeling that is exactly what I am doing.

Autipoilot is so important to have though, to conserve energy and not have to evaluate situations and make decisions on every little thing, like reinventing the wheel each time you need to use one. Life working properly while the little things are taken care of automatically is so empowering and creates self-confidence and security. It makes life manageable. I think attention to metacognition is great to notice your patterns and establish new ones, but I have to differentiate that from constant overthinking about my thinking.

I admire your work and love your messages, but I was a bit shocked that you say the law of attraction is scientifically proven, and naming the quantumworld...?? As a scientist, I am sad that science is misused so often so sell ideas to people that don't understand it, so they believe anything. I understand that thinking positively can help, but it also makes many of us feel guilty in not succeeding while in fact there is a lot of luck and coincedence involved in anything that happens in our lives. Learning to deal with that and be happy with what we have might be more fruitful than wishing for more (even more mental health) :)

@@ms.smccreath5176 There could be a scientific explanation for an event but you don't have the information yourself to make a prediction. If you jumble about the lotto balls in a cylinder that you can calculate which ones will be selected using a highly sophisticated physics model... but you don't have the information needed when you buy your lotto ticket. It's helpful to understand the difference between random, pseudo-random, and chaotic. Commonly people mix up something that is truly un-calculable with something that is beyond your practical ability to calculate. Hope my attempt at answering helps, you probably want a cryptographer to answer a question like that. Bringing that back to psychotherapy, to grow and develop as a being you need to take responsibility for your mistakes and errors, but the reason not to beat yourself up about it is that those mistakes were beyond your human limits at the time to avoid. Saying it was theoretically possible for you to know you shouldn't have done that thing you regret overlooks how complex life can be and that there's only so much processing our brains can do. You don't want to take the false view that it is impossible to change your life in the future because you'd reached a limit in the past, you can do that additional processing now :)
