Thanks for this. I went through Amazon and got this boxed one you have demonstrated for £7.! No instructions with it, so your video was a god-send. I would never have figured it out!

Thanku so much for this video. I had a question about how to load the brad nails in my gun. Previous to your video I watched ( or rather I tried to) another persons video. He just kept yammering on and on and on. Not getting to the point of the video. I don’t know if he ever did go over how to load the staple gun cuz I got so frustrated, so I didn’t finish it. Then I found ur video and bless ur heart u got to the point straight away. Answered all my questions. Thanku again so much.

thanks for the video. do you know how to use a staple gun and fold the staple to secure the material? similar to a normal a paper stapler with metal backing. This would be helpful in material like sign board or thick cardboard. thanks.

Well I got to 2:43 and you'd answered a question that I'd asked myself for the last thirty years. I'd looked at those ears on the sides and thought that they must be part of a guided system. Never realised that you could open the base like that. So thats my thing learnt today. Never go to bed without learning anything. Well this was mine.

I bought one like the second one you showed. No instructions come with it. So it sits in the cupboard as staples come in different widths but are only sold by their height.

It should have come with some staples which you could measure then order more but yes, it's not ideal I agree.

A question. I'm a first-time user, have a simple manual one. The staples don't go in nicely and evenly: they either stick out, or get crumpled a bit. Should the pressure I apply be mostly at the top, where the staples come out? Do I need to support the back part?
@Sutherland5
8 жыл бұрын
The little I know about these guns, I'd say only the front really matters in the end. That's where all the action happens anyway. So the pressure should be concentrated where the staple comes out (while still keeping the gun leveled of course!). Another thing is that your gun might be a bit cheap/low quality and not have enough power to really sink those staples in, especially if the material you're working with is very hard. Or then you haven't adjusted the gun properly (how hard it hits), if you indeed have a model that has that option. Hope this helps!
@christineborsuk9714

Sutherland5 That's very helpful, thanks! I think the wood (solid old steps) is indeed very hard. But when I hold it firm and steady the staple goes in evenly...though sometimes I need to give it an extra tap with a light hammer.

The thin end of the hammer is for starting small nails and brads just hold the nail and hit it with the wedge end so you don't hit your fingers.

I use a straight hemostat (aka: crile--a surgical instrument). I think these are the same "tools" that anglers use to remove fishhooks. They are similar to needlenosed pliers except these can be ratcheted (clamped) to hold the small nail in place.

@MyWagga
5 жыл бұрын
They jam sometimes so you just have to clear it and start again. It might be that the stapler is poor quality. I bought a cheap one because I would not use it much. If you need one for serious use, then it may be worth investing in a really good one.

Hi there, I recently bought one of the Marksman guns. it was working fine, I loaded it with new staples and now its not firing them out. The mechanism seems to be working fine, you use it, fire it, handle goes down ok, then when I look, no staple has come out. We've looked and cant see anything jammed, have you any idea what it could be? I've only used it twice, so a little peeved, ha! Thanks kindly :-)

Run through the instructions carefully again. Sometimes, it's easy to get it set up wrong. I still do this if I'm in a rush. The staples must be set in the correct alignment and the plunger and spring assembly must be oriented in the correct way or it won't work. Without seeing what you are doing, it is difficult to figure out what is wrong. Sorry I can't be more helpful but I hope you get set up ok.

An artist uses a staple gun to them to stretch their canvases over the frame for the canvases. As to stretching canvases, you put the first staple in the middle of the top bar of the frame and the next one in the middle of the bottom bar of the frame and the next ones in the middle of the sides and work out towards the edges. This sounds very critical, however, I like the reveiw and find it very useful. rose macaskie

You might want to use a regular stapler for that kind of material. The gun version is meant for attaching things to harder materials like wood.

Hi, to be honest, I don't know if it will work. Having said that, I would give it a go. It tends to depend on how soft the surface into which the staple is being driven as to whether or not it will go in.
