I could be mistaken but isn't Talk Around the same as Reverse in the analog repeaters? We used to use Reverse to determine whether the other ham was close enough to avoid the repeater and talk simplex.

I really don’t know the answer to that mate
@whenpigsfly3271

@@digitalanaloguehamradio - I think I figured out an answer. Talk Around and Reverse are different. Heres how: Imagine two hams talking through a DMR repeater. Both ham A and ham B are communicating in the usual way. Then, ham A decides to use Talk Around (TA) to avoid using the repeater UpLink (UL). When he activates TA his Rx and Tx now equal the DL frequency. Ham B is still uplinking to the repeater but is getting his Rx from ham A on the DL frequency, talking around the repeater. Now, if ham B decides to use TA, he is also making his Tx and Rx equal to the repeater DL frequency. Now ham A and ham B are talking simplex on the repeater DL frequency. That is what I think Talk Around is about. In contrast, Reverse is when ham A flips his Rx and Tx frequencies and that enables him to talk to ham B in half-duplex mode. If half-duplex works well, then A and B can go simplex. If ham B also goes into Reverse mode, their communication is blocked. I have not verified this supposition with a DMR repeater and a friend. [edit: AE7MU, in case you were wondering]

To bring it back go to the computer software optional settings / and the original option for business or amateur mode. I think it's in the other town.

I got the 878UV a couple of weeks ago, good radio but programming is a right pain in the arse and extremely time consuming. Take my advice, save up more and get a D-Star radio, you just let the GPS find the repeater for you click it and your done, if I had know how much of a pain DMR was to set up I wouldn't have bothered. You need to enter your repeater details in for every single talk group then for each and every single repeater you want + ling every channel in the channel settings to the Talk Group, what a pain. + you have to do it again for your hotspot.

copy & paste the channel info when programming on your computer, don't manually enter the information everytime. Then just change the talkgroup on each channel.

@Anung Un Rama Lazy ? are you for real ? I just don't want to spend so long writing a code plug for a stupid radio, Fusion is the way it should be, enter frequency, press wires-x and you're in. There are however benefits to codeplugs when you use the likes of the openspot 3 meaning the 878 and openspot 3 are a great way to cross mode when you use the OS3s special features that can only really work with a dmr radio, so very easily I can cross mode between DMR, D-Star and Fusion with the 878 and OS3. Perhaps you should choose your words a little more carefully and not try insult People.
