María Martinón Torres, director of CENIEH, explains the study carried out by researchers from the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology (IVPP) in Beijing and the Dental Anthropology Group of CENIEH, which has been published in the 'Journal of Human Evolution.' This study deals with a human mandible found in the Chinese site of Hualongdong. In this site, with an approximate age of 300,000 years, an abundant amount of fossils have been found that can be assigned to at least 15 individuals.
