You missed out on a huge point about Jaclyn's claims, and that is that the video (at least the first one, I haven't seen her update on this second one) isn't just a simple 'similar idea', the entire production and direction, including scripts, are virtually parallel between the two. It was direct plagiarism. BuzzFeed's entire foundation has always been based on content theft. Maddox has a pretty good video critiquing this very fact, and how they manage to get away with it. That huge point, however, is the main take away, and it's a bit unfortunate that you didn't relay too much about it to your audience.
@wschippr1

Dustin Albright Ehh, I agree and disagree. The Wicca video was obviously plagiarized. As you said it's more than the idea, it's the same jokes, the same production, and the same location. The crystal healing? No, Jaclyn has a very weak case. The reason for going was different, the tone was different, and the direction was different. She gave one example about them "stealing" and it was both her and BF saying, "I can't believe I'm doing this," but that's a common thing people say when doing something like crystal healing. It's because it's seen as a silly and irrational thing (which it is) that someone would say something like that. I get why she brought it up (she was very angry over the first video), but she should drop the second claim as it weakens her first criticism.

As someone from a military family, some people in the military are heroes. Many others are just regular people taking advantage of a job opportunity that never see combat or and real deployment. That's not to take away from the true heroes, but I can't get behind blanket hero worship of some people who did nothing, aren't good people in their off time, or just take advantage of the power.

It's a question of motivation. If nobody really respects soldiers and police, then nobody who cares about being respected chooses those two jobs. I'd say there's something similar going on with the job of Father as well. Tons of personal risk, little reward. I also think the word Hero is bandied about a bit too often. Not everybody can be a hero, it's like saying everybody is in the 1%, it's just counter-intuitive. The people who get MoHs are probably heroes, you have to be pretty valiant to get one. But a blanket 'hero' title for everybody else is silly.

As for Buzzfeed and stealing content, it isn't just happening to Jaclynn. There's a smaller KZitemr named Mike Boyd and his channel is all about learning new things as fast as possible. A lot of videos have been out for quite a while, including learning to throw playing cards and learning to solve a Rubik's Cube. These came out quite a bit ago, and Buzzfeed has posted videos with almost the same thing.

Jaclyn's story aside, it's about time that buzzfeed gets called out for stealing other creators' content. I've experienced overlap with my videos ideas and my friends' videos (and occasionally bigger creators), but those are just REALLY cool coincidences. I get that now and then two different people might have the same/similar ideas, but the execution is usually different. No matter how much I believe in infinite possibilities, I don't see how it's possible for buzzfeed to have so many ' overlaps'. There's a point where things stop being coincidence and start coming off as intentional. . .and buzzfeed crossed that line a LONG time ago. And they way they handle it just makes them look more guilty tbh. . .but that's just my opinion 🙄
@Matty80822

it is a bit difficult to know for sure. i mean try sit down for an hour and think of really specific philosophies, chances are you can find it on the internet. when you look to media stories, we've reached a point where it's actually much more uncommon to find an original plot. and then you have the problem where copiers can often do the stories much better, leaving us with a dilemma of value in intellectual property vs advancement of arts and philosophy.

The second video did have some differences but it did deal with healing a specific issue, basic outline, etc yet again. She isn't complaining about them speaking about "whitchcraft,crystal healing" or any other topic... what she is upset about is them mimicking her style and presentation of information. similar situation with Ask a Mortician and the Buzzfeed undertakers answering Google questions video. Caitlin from Ask a Mortician had been featured on Buzzfeed before. I know parallel thinking does happen and it's hard to tell whether it's parallel thinking or plagiarism. However, when someone has been featured on a site for a fairly niche topic and then that site makes a video that is very similar, it makes it harder to argue simple coincidence. There was a gap of time between the feature and it may have been different people working on each, so, I suppose it could be argued that The video creators for BF didn't know about AAM and that Caitlin has been featured. However, the time gap could actually make it more likely they stole the format bc it makes it pretty impossible to argue that their video was "in the works" prior to Caitlin's feature. Also, even if the people who made the video were unaware of Caitlin in general, why did nobody at BF realize that they have already had a story about AAM. Do they not have someone that looks into whether they have covered a topic? It's pretty much the same with Jaclyn, except as far as I know she was never actually on the site and only had a connection via the friend.

"ooh they had the same reactions!" They.. really didn't. Like think about this logically for a second, who the hell is going to plan every reaction to copy one single video? I might be able to believe they copied the idea but purposefully copy frame by frame? The frames aren't even that similar! I'm actually a regular watched of Jaclyn Glenn but I have seen the buzzed videos and they really aren't very similar aside from location when you watch the FULL videos back to back. Jaclyn is just acting a bit ridiculous in my opinion, like trying to make the claims more solid but in my opinion making them seem over the top and a stretch

The whole plagiarism thing reminds me of what Rhett and Link mistakenly did to Steve Zaragoza's character Davin Ross. One of their crew members made a video about someone called John Ross and there were a lot of coincidental similarities from the characters and editing. Even though the two groups knew one another well, and have worked together in the past, R&L's crew had never seen Zaragoobler's video. But they realized how it looked and how it affected Steve and handled the situation like champs. Instead of ignoring the claims, acting attacked, being rude, etc etc, Rhett and Link simply deleted the video and addressed the issue on their podcast. They spoke on their feelings about plagiarism and, even though this was a complete coincidence, why they deleted the video in question. They said that they don't personally oversee every bit of content that their crew puts out, but for them personally, whenever they have a new idea for a video, before they start production, they scour youtube for similar videos and, if they find one similar enough, they scrap or alter the idea. Even if they find one right before they hit publish (doesn't matter if it has one view or one million views), they won't post it. It's true that a lot of time and work must have been put into the Buzzfeed video, and sure, there must be some hurt feelings going around, but I feel as if R&L provided the best way to deal with these situations -- speak with the creator personally and if there are enough similarities between the videos, say that although it wasn't done intentionally, they will delete the video.

Same. You're taught pretty early on that every great story has already been told, which is really depressing to think about honestly.
@GhostsAreCool
7 жыл бұрын
But at the same time, if every great story has truly been told, that doesn't mean you can't still do one similar. The only depressing part is that no one will look at your work and say "Wow neat original idea" but rather compare and contrast to the quote "great story" before it. But this is why we have tropes, cliches, and the like! There's a reason certain traits and tropes and cliches worked, and you can also subvert them or make them unique. Just as there are tropes and cliches that still work, there are also things like color combos that just go well together in the case of visual art. :) I'd like to think that, rather than limiting your abilities it can be inspiring knowing that every original idea has already been done because "just because it's been done before, doesn't mean it was done best"; there is ALWAYS room for improvement and I'd like to think that that's the best part of it all!
@link3895

While that more or less true, if you watch Jaclyn's side by side comparison videos, you'll see that the BuzzFeed videos even copied the dialogue from her videos, even little side comments. There's only so far you can take that reasoning, and when the videos copying the ideas for their own go so far as to copy the dialogue, that's not no originality for anyone, it's clear copying.

There is little doubt in my mind that Buzzfeed (and many other huge KZitem channels/Networks) steals or at least heavily copies smaller content creators. Remember the IGN and Steven Suptic fiasco? But, I totally agree that overlap happens. I think the most important thing to remember is to differentiate between content that seems inspired by other creators and content that is beat-for-beat the same video.

Hey all!! Just to clarify, I'm not defending Buzzfeed or Jaclyn here. I've watched the vids and they are FRIGHTENINGLY similar. Both Buzzfeed and Jaclyn have histories of plagiarism, which is sad. My point was more so in the same vein of what Phil stated. Some of it is BLATANT plagiarism (once again, the case of Steven Suptic and IGN) but some of it is very "crying wolf," I feel (The Fine Bros claiming Ellen DeGeneres was ripping off their style). In any case, research and context are key.
@danglezbenderz

Once could have been a coincedence. But twice and involving the same creative team? I doubt it. It's entirely possible they had these ideas on the backburner for awhile. Then borrowed some material from Jaclyn and applied it to these videos.

I completely agree with your point on the similarities in videos on similar topics. I wanna make video essays on media and art and everything encompassing it, yet trying to create content around this is so difficult since it is incredibly over saturated. It's hard to create a new idea on a certain project when it seems there's 300 video essay channels that already had your idea a week ago. Sometimes it's just really really bad timing. Like when a new film is being released and you would love to talk about similar films, every huge channel instantly creates a video about that as soon as you get that thought. It gets scary
@EnteIexia

24 Frames Of Nick If it's a beaten topic then it should be hard. But topics that aren't given much light shouldn't be hard to find new ideas. I mean crystal for chronic pain for cancer or whatever sounds very out there and not an overused topic. So there should be no reason for the similarities. Another thing is, you can write tour essay but then produce it very differently. Buzzfeed blatantly copied specific scenes from the KZitem creator. I'm pretty sure you can write your own unique essay. If you cant make it different or put your own spice to it then maybe go do something else since I can find 50 others just like you.

24 Framse Of Nick I am kind of in the same boat as I want to create a video game channel but there are so many variations that it is difficult to create unique content. Although I will agree with Phil that what makes the content unique is the individual but at the same time you can have people like Ricegum completely rip off Genius and create a video that uses all the exact same styles and transitions. That would be blatant copying no matter who the individual is because you are copying the exact style. I love the KZitemr Rags and want to create a channel similar to his in the sense that I talk about gaming and give my opinions on what is happening in the gaming world. But at the same time I don't want to go and have the same style as him with a doggo, I would want to create something unique. At this point in my comment I am more sharing what I think and want to do and not responding to you, sorry, lol. But many are in the same boat of jumping into a market of over saturation and I think the most important thing to keep in mind is to be yourself and create a type of content you enjoy watching. That is of course just my take. Would love to know your thoughts on that, cause I'm bored and am trying to distract myself from my studies by talking with a complete stranger. lol. Funny how the internet works. Edit: I just watched your Bojack video since OroCrimson mentioned it and I finished it and just subscribed. Great content man. Keep that shit coming!

Concerning the Somalia news incident: do you think the average joe in Somalia gives a shit about the vegas shooting? My guess is no. Just like someone in Iowa probably isn't connected to/gives a shit about someone being attacked by a shark in Hawaii. Bad things happen all over the world and I think it's normal to pay more attention to the things that hit closer to home. As a combat veteran who has attended the funerals for several fallen soldiers while we were in theatre I emphatically disagree with Trump and General Kelly. Telling the family of a fallen soldier he knew what he signed up for is factually correct, but it is as shitty as going to the funeral and consoling the family of a cancer patient by saying well guess he shouldn’t have been a smoker. Though factually accurate it deserves a punch in the mouth for its crassness. What makes this worse still is as commander in chief you are ultimately responsible for soldiers being in the situation which got them killed. So the correct response is to say I am so deeply sorry for your loss and I will see to it that my people get you all the support you need. Not yeah well he knew the risks. I am so glad I got out before Trump was in office because we are required to respect our commander in chief. I respected Bush and Obama, didn’t always agree with them but respected them. I cannot respect this reality T.V. version of a president.

You legit come off as somebody who just hates Trump, you seriously don't think any other presidents have said those exact words before? At least call the other presidents (who have definitely done it) out on it too otherwise it just makes you seem like a bitter angry Trump-hate bandwagoner. It is not the president's duty to personally console/comfort the families of every fallen soldier. He's got a country to run for gods sake, just like every other president before and after him. His duty ends at informing them, however "crass" the giant pussy that's become America might see it. (Source: combat veteran as well who knew damn well and good what he was signing up for, it sucks to lose your friends. I know, I've had it happen too, but again: they knew what they were getting into. If they didn't that's their bad, not the president's)
@frankdelgrosso8297
7 жыл бұрын
Ant you are correct that I don't approve of Trump as president. I do not hate the man however. I just find him unfit for the office in nearly every qualification and very dangerous for our economy and the welfare of our troops. I am not a bandwagon joiner, I am just a well-educated on politics and have military experience which leads me to come to my thoughts and opinions. Part of my experience is having been present at soldier’s funerals in Iraq from my unit. And if anyone had said to me about SSG Penya or PFC Jones “well he knew what he was signing up for but it’s still sad” I would be enraged and ask the person to leave. This fact does not change when it is coming from the president. The president should be held to a higher moral standard not a lesser one should he not?
@antthegord9411
7 жыл бұрын
Honestly I'm trying (and hopefully am) to understand it from your point of view, the best I can come up with to refute my own argument is that it is indeed not the appropriate way to structure the sentence when first breaking the news to a grieving widow. Hopefully we can meet up there, he definitely should have shown the empathy first then stated that if he had to do it. I didn't see my buddies dying as a sad thing though, I didn't grieve their loss I celebrated their lives. I truly mean it in the nicest way when I say they knew what they were signing up for, not as in "oh well they died it's their fault they knew it's dangerous, the dumbasses" but as in "it's unfortunate people have to fill those boots but they do and they do it proudly till their final breath". Just as well, I believe any relative or friend of a serviceman/woman seriously needs to prepare themselves for the very likely chance that their loved one can die. We value human life so highly in America that it just destroys relatives and friends of people when their loved ones die and in a profession as admittedly dangerous as a combat soldier, people need to come to terms with the fact that their chances of dying increase hundreds-fold the moment they sign that contract. Though I can definitely agree that saying "they knew what they were signing up for" is stating the obvious and can be a bit unnecessary. (apologies for the initial hostility, I can indeed admit that was a bit of a knee-jerk reaction to what I construed as blind bandwagoning by the way) Trust me man, don't mourn their loss. Celebrate their lives, it'll make it hit a lot less hard when people say that, I'm sure of it. I am sorry for your loss, and it does suck to lose not just friends but your actual brothers, but nothing can be done about it now for sure. Living in the past and getting enraged over a statement that I'm sure 99% of the time isn't meant in any kind of mean-spirited or ill way is only going to make people angry for the wrong reasons. (and the 1% is those obvious fuckheads that hate on the military, know nothing of that life, and do mean that shit in the worst way possible)
@frankdelgrosso8297
7 жыл бұрын
Ant thank you for your reply. So many on KZitem make assumptions and or simply fling insults. It is refreshing to se somone be frank and reasonable. I must say that though I do celebrate thier lives I also will always mourn them. SSG Penya was 25 years old, he had a wife who adored him and 3 kids to which he was a god. They will have to live a very long time missing him. PFC Jones was an incredible nerd ( so I loved the kid as I am too) who could fix anything wrong with your computer. When we came back from Iraq his parents were there just like many of the parents of the surviving soldiers. I recognised them because Jones had shown me pictures of his family. I don't think I have ever cried so hard in my life as I did when I tried to console his mother who had to watch the surviving soldiers parents reunite with thier kids but she will live the rest of her life with the pain of knowing she will never see him again. A soldiers life lost is not simply a death in the familly, it is always a life cut extreemely short which is much more painful. Just like teen suicides it can devistate a family forever for this very reason. And for this reason these deaths in particular require the highest amount of tact and sympathy.

Well, I served under 43 and 44 and during my deployments. I lost several soldiers under 44 and few under 43. I had to personally visited the families and out of those 3 they didn't get a visit from either president. They're were letters given to me to give them to the families of the fallen ones. The worst part is to see the mother or the young wife screaming and blaming me for something that wasn't under my control. I understand why President 's don't like viewing the families expressions and that is why they prefer using a letter. I wouldn't be surprised if 45 will just do letters for now on. Under my command I lost 9 young soldiers and I did made a formal visit to the families without getting paid for travel experiences. It was my fault for promising I will get everyone back. That is not the case and I realize that and being a more advance soldier we know the risk we take. No medals or visits from a President will change that. I left after 14 years of serving my country and I knew I might not get back. When your 18.-23 you believe your superman and that is not the case. I was fortunate that I only broke my vertebrates in 3 different places but with therapy I was able to walk again. I wanted to go back but the military wouldn't allow me so I went to work as a contractor. We sign knowing the hazard of our job not for a medal or be praised for our valor, but is to promote democracy to other countries as we enjoy those liberties in our country. Whether right or wrong is what it is and people do praise when you liberate a town from Islamist terrorist. Not all Islamist are terrorist and some do want to fight against the oppressors but lack skills and equipment.

I would chalk up the buzzfeed thing up to parallel thinking or a coincidence, if it wasn’t for the fact that the Buzzfeed stuff used almost the same words as Jaclyn. It’s possible they had the idea before Jaclyn’s show but then saw her show and decided to use the same points Jaclyn did. Jaclyn has been caught plagiarizing previously but she also apologized and made a promise to do better which she seems to have done. I would give Buzzfeed the benefit of the doubt if it wasn’t for the fact how rude the one Buzzfeed girl was. “Guess your not that memorable.” If that is their attitude to small creators that have legit concerns then they don’t need my support. This isn’t a new claim against Buzzfeed. After I saw that response, I immediately unsubscribed and unliked Buzzfeed, I decided I will not be watching any of their content or visiting their site. That creator is a representative of Buzzfeed and if that’s how they are going to treat people then I won’t support them.

Just speculation, but to me this seems like buzzfeed is using Jaclyn Glenn because they know of her past and think they can get away with it because you know, she did it so maybe people wont feel as bad knowing that she stole before. Either or 2 wrongs don't make a right and buzzfeed should apologize if they did indeed try to capitalize off of another content creator

Yeah the defense of parallel thinking is all well and good, but Buzzfeed sure seem to have to trot it out a hell of a lot. Not to mention that while they claim they don't tell their creators to 'steal' content, people who used to work for them have claimed that they have been told to essentially do just that.

It might be a little shallow to say that people don’t care about the bombing in Somalia because it affected people of a different race. More likely that it’s because of a cultural divide and a geopolitical relevance issue. It’s not like the majority of the African American community is more closely following the situation in Somalia because they to are black.
@supernova743
7 жыл бұрын
Somalia is rife with lawlessness, it's really hard to have sympathy or a great amount of concern when it's part and parcel of daily life there. The same goes with the middle east, where bombing attacks and acid attacks are a daily occurrence. The outrage comes when those behaviors are brought outside that ecosystem to a place where these kinds of attacks are uncommon or unheard of. In the US we have shootings every day and the stories rarely rise to the level of news coverage let alone coverage in other countries. However when we have an uncommon shooting like the Pulse night club, Sandy Hook or Las Vegas it reaches into the news cycle on an international scale. It's a similar situation with knife or sword attacks in Japan, we never hear about them as they're just a part of living in Japan, but if a bomb goes off in a subway it reaches us because that's not a common occurrence. This whole idea that white people don't care about brown people is just ridiculous. There are millions of dollars sent in aid to help people in other countries suffering from not only temporary tragedies (floods, hurricanes, quakes) but also systemic issues that can't be solved through outside interference (poverty, famine, disease). Lets not forget the wonderful people who put themselves in harms way and donate weeks or months of their lives to combat issues in other countries, Doctors Without Boarders. Is the west self serving and fallible yes, but there's also a huge pouring out of resources and time coming from the west as well.
@theurzamachine

Personally, I don't read much into news that don't affect the direct allies of the West. It just so happens that the majority of African countries fall into this category.
@KikiCatNovelties
7 жыл бұрын
I have to agree that the issue is a cultural one and less a race one. If Somalia was like most other western countries and especially if it was a democracy, we'd be having the same reaction we would to France. We're also having a hard time (due to ignorance) figuring out who is good and who is bad in that region, whereas in things like the Paris attacks it's very easy to find a group to blame.

@oluwasegunoriola9834

+KikiCatNovelties No, I disagree. I doubt it has to do with western countries or democracy but what is happening and what people can find that relates with them. For example, look at isis, americans didn't care about isis until it hit its soil, then after it did, americans started becomming more interested in african, eastern countries related to isis. It's mostly unlikely to do with what the country is but what is in that country that others can relate to. For example, why do you care about women's rights in saudi arabia even though it isn't a western country? It's because of feminism and how western countries have experienced it and as a result, can relate to it in other countries. I'm pretty sure you know who is good or bad. Just get some intel on them and you will figure that out. Also, maybe you have a bad time because you don't hear from that country.

Buzzfeed has ripped off so many ideas from small creators on multiple times. As a recipe creator, they have stolen recipes from me several times, and from other creators I know. There is for sure a lot of overlap between ideas-- that's totally okay, nothing is super original in the world. It's more how Buzzfeed goes about it, and it can get really annoying. I can see both sides, but Buzzfeed has a big habit of doing this time and time again.

I'm sorry, Phil, but I disagree about the buzzfeeed thing. If it was just the same location and same experts, it wouldn't be stealing. But they use the same angles and have even used the exact same diagloue and pointed out the same things Jaclyn did. That's why people are so angry about this. If Jaclyn was like "they're stealing my videos!!!" and it was just the ideas then sure, it's a reach. But it's the similarities in the videos that make this so suspicious, and the fact they had such a hostile reaction the second time it happened. They're not exactly acting like the innocent party here and their 'proof' could very easily be disputed. Maybe it is just a coincidence but considering their past, I definitely think they have plagiarised Jaclyn.

I'm biased, I used to watch Jaclyn a lot and I realize Phil can't include all of the info from Jaclyn's analysis, but if you go and watch the episodes themselves, it seems way to coincidental--outside of the framework of the episode, there's dialogue about non-trivial, unrelated, and very specific things; they literally copy a line about a crystal dildo. Jaclyn comments on one in the shop, and during an interview the hosts at Buzzfeed just happen to bring it up--which is way too specific for me to believe they hadn't seen her video. I think Buzzfeed creators steal because there's a creative environment that's not conducive to creativity. It's talked about in the countless "why I left Buzzfeed" videos, feeling the constant pressure to make something viral, regardless of their own ideas and what they WANT to make--so if you feel like you have to make SOMETHING rather than having the leisure of waiting for inspiration, you can see how the path of least resistance could lead someone to peruse less-popular channels… TL;DR Buzzfeed's trash regardless, but I'm pretty sure Jaclyn's been had

Irrelevant, that isn't how justice works. She made up with the people she stole from and far as I can tell has learned from it, the victim and whether they are guilty of past crimes has nothing to do with any current crimes. I disagree with a lot of what she's said since she got all social justicey but regardless she isn't in the wrong for standing up for what she believes to be right just because she herself was guilty in the past.

I love the MeToo hashtag and am proud of people coming out about these things, but I don't like the bashing male victims stigma coming out of it. I saw a few men coming out about their abuse and being shooed away. There was a conversation I saw in there where a woman even said "men can't get raped" so the hashtag MenToo was created as a buffer/safe space. People talk about not coming about because they're shamed or second guessed, but the instance a man may come out, there people that berate him. What a double standard.

While there is a huge chance of overlap in any creators content just due to the sheer amount of content being generated daily on KZitem, Buzzfeed has it happen to often for it to totally be coincidence. Buzzfeed has such a large amount of content that they likely find it easy to fluff up their portfolio with plagiarism and with their producers under such pressure to continually deliver content it's going to happen. Likely it's discretely encouraged though no one will find it in writing anywhere.

I relate to this so much about being pushed to one side politically. I was raised in NC but went to college in CA (Los Angeles specifically). When I was in NC, I felt the social ignorance of hardline conservatism pushing me further and further to the left. When I went to CA, I felt like I couldn't breathe without being politically incorrect and offending someone, and that pushed me to the right. I would love to follow a political ideology solely because of its platform, but other followers keep pushing me away.

honestly the fact that only two options for political parties have any chance of getting voted into office is a serious problem with american politics since it divides the population into two sides who only seem to bicker and get nothing done, while the ones who vote independant don't matter towards change either for the most part.

@Julia Adney You are a classic example of a moderate, as I am. What nobody seems to acknowledge is the extreme lack of moderates in our current government, people who can actually agree with certain issues from both the conservative side and the liberal side. Over the course of 20 or more years, both parties have systematically pushed out most of the moderates from Congress to hype their own agendas which leaves us with 2, very different, sides of the political spectrum. This is why that Congress has been a complete laughing stock and cannot get anything accomplish, because not one of them can see both sides of the fence.

Personally this is what I do. I think about what issues matter the most to me and stand firm by them and don't think about whether it's left centre or right or what party they typically coincide with. I'm a Canadian so it is a little different, but in all 3 elections I have voted in I have voted for different parties because each time a different party fit better with my views. I think a large part of the problem is people identify too much with a party itself over their actual platforms.

( 6:59) Hey deathgnomes i'm from the far away land of "south africa" ,where i live we rub sticks together to make fire, we speak in grunts and lions freely roam the streets. we are completely inferior to the first world nations and cannot begin to understand the terrors that occur there. As it seems you have never taken the time to google africa (as we are obviously not of any importance and merely a sad byproduct of colonialism) i will explain what it is like here. in my country we have a measly population of 51 million people but then again we cant really be classified as "humans" as we have yet to reach enlightenment as you so wisely put it. while we scrounge around trying to find the meaning of life you preoccupy yourselves with far more important questions like "will it blend" and intellectual activities like competing in lip syncing battles. im am just a young boy who lives a normal by going to school where i learn physics, biology, english and a few other primitive subjects. i also play the occasional video game or watch a tv series. the comparison you made to the dark ages is absolutely fair and i'm sure you use you valuable time with far more important matters like solving world hunger ( sorry not WORLD hunger just the important places) or having intellectual debates about topics beyond my comprehension.

I think a big point is that Buzzfeed posted the video on crystal healing 3 days after Jaklyn's video. Combined with the facts that Buzzfeed had already had one of these supposed coincidences once before and that they have a history of stealing content, it seems highly suspicious. That said I agree with you that in a court, I would say not guilty. There is no way to prove it, but personally I think it's very likely that they copied Jaklyn.
